R's is working on all 4 molars. The bottom two are right there. I can feel them right under the gums. The gums are white. I have been giving her some Motrin at night cause they always bother her so much more. She is still adjusting to one nap a day at day care. She is so overtired so I want her to get as much sleep at night as she can but then I wonder if how much medicine is too much?

Looking back I am kinda in shock that we did it so much but it was the ONLY way DS would sleep - I think it was his molars and we used Motrin 10 nights in a row!

I asked our pedi about this and she said it's fine for a week or so (or even longer really if it's necessary)--there are some kids who are on motrin daily due to medical conditions, so as long as you're not overdosing them it's fine! That being said, I personally tried not to give motrin unless he was screaming/crying/it was really affecting his sleep. But if those things are true, then motrin all the way--why would i want him to be uncomfortable if I can help him? I did try not to "pre dose" him, aka give him meds before he was uncomfortable.

My ped said the same thing - that it's perfectly fine to give it to her for a week or so to help her pain. I don't hesitate to pop some advil when I have a headache, so it didn't make sense to me to allow her to be in pain when I could do something about it. Baby A was a serious teether - she had 12 at her first birthday, and now, at 14 months, we're pretty sure her canines are coming in. Serious overachiever in the teeth area.

My ped concurs with the others. He said as long we we're following the correct dosages and not overdosing her, it's fine. I try to only do it when she is obviously in pain, but sometimes that means she gets it for 7+ days at a time.

When DD had her molars and canines coming through she was a hot mess. I probably maxed out at 5 days in giving her baby advil.

When LO is teething and I can tell she is in pain, I don't hesitate to give her some motrin. I have done it a week in a row when he molars and some of her canines were coming in.

I prefer giving tylenol because it gentler on the stomach, but of course ibuprofen is nice at night or before bed since it lasts longer.

My ped also said up to a week, but to change up the type of pain meds. We never did it for a week, but in the future, I would so this.

I've gone over a week before but I try to only give it at night so her body gets a break during the day.

I kept asking our ped to make sure it was ok and he always oked it, so we used it quite often during teething, especially since my kids get their teeth so early (first teeth at 3 months for both!). Probably a week at a time... then again when the next tooth is about to pop.

Advil > hysterical screaming all night long+sleep deprivation. We're on day 4 of Advil because she just screams in her bed and doesn't sleep and does NOT calm down when you hold her.
I'm going off the rule that when she naps at daycare without screaming, I'll stop the Advil. But until then, she's obviously in pain

I think the longest We have gone is 3 days straight, but I try not to give it to her unless it's an absolute last resort. Our ped says it's fine so long as we don't overdose her so I think going longer is ok!

I think we have done about 5 days straight. LO just got his 8th tooth and I think is working on his molars as well. Two nights ago he was up crying a few times- and last night with the Tylenol he STTN....

@blackbird: She won't even nap? Poor E! R usually is ok for naps but at night she just cries out all night. She is so not herself this last week. I want my R back!
