I currently have a small SUV with 5 seats. It will do for now as we are only expecting our first. If I were to get a new car today though I would certainly opt for more seats taking the future into consideration. Even though we only want 2-3 kids, I want to have the option for a friend, grandparent, or anyone else to ride along with us somewhere.

I have 5 seats. I absolutely love it and I love all the room in the back.

We have a 7 seater mini van. We LOVE it! But we also have a 65 pound dog that takes up the whole backseat.

We have a 5 seater crossover. I love it! But if you want additional seating how about one of the smaller SUVs that has a flip up third row? That way it's not up all the time but you have the option if one of your kids has a friend over or something. I know the Toyota Highlander has this option.

I have a Toyota highlander with the third row of seats. I keep them folded down and I don't know if I ever used them during the three years that I've had this vehicle. It isn't too big of an SUV and I like the option of extra seats. Even though the third row of seats was considered an option on the vehicle you could not find one without it.

@MamaMoose: can you share the make and model? I am in the market for a crossover SUV.

@MamaMoose: I almost got a Venza when we bought the highlander. I was really torn, but ended up not getting it because it was the first model year.

@ChelseaRose: I had two highlanders before I bought the Venza last year. I love them both!! I was just ready for something a little more like a car plus I do get slightly better mileage out of the Venza.
