I'm trying to buy some blocks for my 10 month old. Who knew there were so many different types??? Wooden alphabet blocks, soft blocks, blocks with mirrors, blocks with sparkly glitter water, irregularly shaped blocks, grimm's style blocks, magnetic blocks, and on and on .... I got lost in Amazon.
What do you have? How did you choose?

LO has a few sets (all gifts), but my favorite blocks are the Uncle Goose ABC blocks.

we have the uncle goose abc blocks, the melissa and doug wooden blocks, and magnatiles.
these all get played with all the time but megabloks were great when they were younger.

When she was young we got the B. Toys rubber big blocks from Target, they were easy for building and soft. Now she plays with wooden letter blocks, as we work on her letters and she likes to stack them.

2 sets. One that DH's grandfather made for him and one cheapo $5 set from Walmart. She loves it and plays with it daily. Don't stress it - if it stacks, you're good.

We also have a couple sets of Tegu wooden magnetic blocks, magnatiles, and duplo style blocks.
She will make blocks out of anything--I definitely don't think they have to be fancy to be enjoyed

With a three year old, I have about five different sets. I'd say just pick your favorite and then buy more when/if they're interested. My daughter loves to build, so that's most of her toys.

We have megablocks and magnatiles! The magnatiles I wouldn't really suggest until closer to 2.5-3 years old. Too hard to manipulate

We have sooo many. Regular and mini wooden alphabet blocks, soft rubber blocks with numbers, clear plastic ones with cars and trucks inside, megabloks, some little people ones that came with a wagon, and a handful of lego duplos. They play with all of them but like the regular size wooden ones and megabloks best.

We have wooden blocks in different shapes, bristle blocks (B Toys "stackadoos"), and Duplo. They play with them all differently.

We have duplo blocks, megablocks, a variety of small wooden blocks, and a new castle block set (also wooden). I honestly will probably be getting another large set of plain wooden blocks, a set of the super large cardboard blocks, and more duplo sets as lo gets older. I would rather have blocks than almost any other toys. So many creative ways to play!

At 8 months we have M&D unit blocks, Uncle Goose blocks, and b. toys blocks, but he only really likes the shapes from Fisher Price sorting toys. Go figure.

We just have a million of the Uncle Goose blocks, which we love. We have them in English, French, Italian, German and Russian, and keep them all together in a big box.
