LO is 7, 3 first, 1 middle, 3 last. Her nickname is 2 but only 4 letters...name her what you want!

My DD has two syllables in her first name, three in her middle, and four in her last name, so nine total. But her first name is only three letters, and I doubt she'll ever use her full middle except on legal documents, so it really doesn't look like that much of a mouthful written out (except that she shares DH's last name, which is impossible for most Americans to pronounce correctly).

I love the name you're thinking of and don't think it's too long/too many syllables at all.

I love it. My first name is 9 letters, middle name is 10 letters, maiden name is 7 letters, and married name is 10 letters. Sure I could never get the full spelling of my first name on standardized tests where you only get 7 spaces but in the end it really didn't matter and having a lovely name like Penelope is actually helpful in people remembering you. I think the name is great.

ETA: C's name is 2 syllables, 3 syllables, 3 syllables.

LO is 3, 1, 2. I love the name. Especially the nn. My sis is planning on that name with the nn Nelly. I already told her I'm calling her Penny. Fwiw, they have a 3 syllable ln too.

I grew up with 9 syllables in my name. It was a mouthful, but it never really bothered me.

I love names that are really long (or long-ish), and have a bunch of different nicknames. Penelope June is beautiful!

We decided on first names a while ago: if we have a girl her first name will have 2 (or 3 depending how it's pronounced) syllables. If we have a boy his first name is going to have 4 syllables. No middle names yet, but the last name will be 1 syllable.

@Mae: we call her Penelope and Penny pretty interchangeably :).
