We don't get trick or treaters where we are, but people were letting my son take at least 2-3 pieces- and some didn't care if he wanted more! Some were more stringent on making sure each Kid only got 1-2. It makes sense- the neighborhood gets crazy busy!

We were handing out candy at our friends' house and my H was mostly on candy duty. He's the same, I kept saying he was playing fast and loose with the candy haha. And we did run out, I think we had a couple hundred kids at least!

We gave 3-5/kid and probably had about 100 kids. We stocked up on candy from Aldi

Apparently I'm cheap, I only give one per kid! We are in a big, busy neighborhood though, so it would be easy for a trick or treater to get a ton of candy even if everyone just gave one piece.

We had 200+ pieces and we ran out in an hour! This was our first year in this neighborhood and heard it was busy, but I had no idea it was going to be the way it was. TONS of people! Dh had started giving 2 per kid but had to cut it back to 1. Then we raided DD's candy and have away what she couldn't have or didn't want.

It was nuts! Next year we'll get probably 400+ pieces.

Another nice thing was that almost all the kids said Trick or treat, happy Halloween and/or thank you! Glad to have polite kiddos.

We did 2-3 per kid, next year I am going to look into premaking little bag of 3-4 pieces, or couponing a major deal on full size.
We ended up with about 100 kids, and we were outside on our porch from 7-8:30.

We have gotten 60-80 kids each year so I give 1 each because I've run out in the past!

We don't get a ton for the past few years, so we usually tell them to take what they want.

Tonight we had two big groups of 5 kids come by so I gave them 2 each. I thought more were going to come. We ended up with an all time high of 12 kids TOTAL! Our record before was 4 kids. Haha.

We don't get many so I tell them to take to what they want. 95% of the kids are really polite and take maybe 3-4 pieces...a couple kids got greedy and were taking handfuls until I told them that's enough.

We had 360 pieces of candy and have about 25 left over. We gave out 2-3 pieces (depending on how many DD1 threw in their bags) and a glow bracelet to the TOTers.

I give 2 or 3 per! Most people gave LO 1 then stuffed a few more in her bag because she was being so sweet and chatty. LOL

My mom gave big handfuls, because we only ended up with 3 trick-or-treaters, one of which was Evan, lol. Apparently our development is a ghost-town. We have a ton left over...luckily (or unfortunately), I bought candy I like...pregnant me hasn't been able to resist it!

We took Evan to a different neighborhood (we started early and there were no porch lights on where we live...we thought it was just too early, so we'd come back through here later), and got 1-2 pieces from each house. There were TONS of people on the street, though!

DH was adamant we give one treat per kid, for five kids though I gave a juice & chocolate. I needed to get rid of the juice! Growing up and when I handled ToTing at my mom's neighborhood each house gave a way a small handful.

The kids and parents at my neighborhood didn't mind the one treat though.

I've already changed my game plan for next year, we're going to get 3 cases of granola bars/Rice Krispies/chips from Costco and let kids pick one larger treat each. We spent about 40 on candy, and I think the larger treats will have more of an impact and be about the same price.

I normally do 2 pieces per kid. We had less than 20 come by though and if I'd known that I'd let them take more.

I'm surprised so many people give out so much. I remember getting way too much candy as a child and there was a lot of waste, so we buy the good stuff, but only give one piece per kid. Unless we have a ton left and it's the last half hour... Then they get a whole handful!

My first 3 trick or treaters got a huge handful each since this was our first year handing out candy at our new house. they probably each got at least 10 pieces.
Everyone else got 1 (babies) - 5 pieces.
We ran out after 2 hours and turned the lights off at 8pm

@MrsBeluga: that's a great idea. We don't get that many kids (sad face) so it wouldn't be too expensive to buy something nicer!

3-4 plus a glow bracelet. When DD was helping, they got a double fistful each.
