How many weeks will you/did you work to?

I'll be working right to the end so I can use all of my 6-7 weeks home with baby. I told one of the partners that I was pregnant around 8 weeks, and the other partners at 9 weeks after our first ultrasound. I work as an attorney in a small firm, so I wanted to let them know far ahead of time so they could plan for my absence. That, and we didn't have a maternity policy, so we had to get that negotiated, too.

I'm a teacher and LO was due over spring break. So, I worked until 38 weeks which was the start of spring break. he arrived about 3 days later!

I work 40 hours/week (at a desk...my job isn't physically demanding). I planned to work until 39 weeks, but my OB took me out of work at 37 weeks because of my awful swelling. I went into labor at 38 weeks.

This is a great question and one I've been wondering myself! Been loving reading everyone's replies.

I work in education, 40 hours/week. I plan to tell my work once I hit 13 weeks, which is coming up soon. I've been debating when to take off. I'd like to take a week off before my due date to just do absolutely nothing. I'm not worried about being bored - I'll find stuff to do!

I'm a grad student and teaching assistant. I'll work as long as I'm able, as we get very little leave, and I need it for after the baby is born. I told my department when I was about 6 weeks because I was so sick.

I'm an RN in an ICU. I was put on bedrest for pre-e at 35+2 (after working that day) and was induced at 36 weeks.

I plan to work pretty much up until I go into labor so I can save my leave for post-birth. But, I work from my laptop at home so I can literally do my job from bed if I need to.

I work 40+ hours a week at a mentally stressful/demanding but physically easy job and planned to work until I went into labor. I was pulled at 37 weeks due to swelling and BP. Most boring 3 weeks of my life twiddling my thumbs sitting at home all day!

I told my manager very early on because I was extremely sick, so it was obvious that I was either pregnant or extremely ill.

I was a paralegal. I told my boss pretty early because my morning sickness was so bad. I stopped working on Friday, May 3 and LO was born Monday, May 6 he was 2 days shy of 40 weeks!

I was a field scientist, doing a ton of walking in the wilderness (ok, outdoors). I kept up with the field work until 6 months. The last few weeks in the field were really exhausting. I did some on and off office work after that. I was in the office on Friday, in the doctors office late Friday afternoon and induced on Saturday morning.

I was terrified of losing my job for being pregnant, so I didn't tell anyone until I was 4 months. It was really difficult as I was living with my colleagues out of town, and working with them all day then going home with them and having dinner with them and watching tv with them, etc, etc. To not mention that I was pregnant was SO hard.

I am an event planner and WFH so I plan to work as long as possible to maximize my mat leave time. I told my bosses at 12 weeks and the rest of my team shortly after that.

I'm a NICU nurse working 12-hour shifts. I worked until 36 weeks then took my vacation before my mat leave started. It was tough at the end (mentally and physically).

Oh and I didn't tell work till 18 weeks. No idea how they didn't catch on earlier!

Wow, I feel like such a slacker! I was to stop work around 30 or 32 weeks max! I want to have time getting everything ready and just relaxing before the birth. I am also considering dropping one day per week even before I leave, just because I want to. It would be nice to have, say, wednesdays off. I guess it's different for me because I really don't plan on returning to work anytime soon so what's a few extra weeks?

I current work as a lawyer FT and usually work the standard 40hrs/ week. I told my boss at 8 weeks, and the rest of the office at 12 weeks. But by then I think most people knew anyway.

I'm actually really looking forward to leaving work... 15 more weeks to go.

I was working fulltime doing payroll and finished at 36 weeks. I had four or so weeks of holidays saved up so I didn't actually start my maternity leave until my due date. As it was I was hellishly busy in my last couple of weeks and the stress combined with baby flipping herself breech made me very glad I finished up when I did. I ended up working limited hours in my last week due to oedema, rising BP and spilling protein and not surprisingly my health improved dramatically once I finished up.

I told my bosses at around 8-9 weeks and the rest of my office figured it out at around 11-12 weeks (we were a big group of gossips who know everything about everybody!).

I am a high school teacher, and I worked up until my due date (a Thursday). We had a 4 day weekend, and I was hoping to go into labor, but didn't. I decided to stay home because I was uncomfortable, mentally checked out, and it was easier for me and my sub. It was getting stressful preparing each day as if it were my last . Eta: I had him ten days late.

I told work at 13 weeks . I think one of my closer coworkers guessed around 11-12 weeks.

I'm a dental hygienist and with LO #1 I worked till 39+5 and went into labor at 40+3, and then with LO #2 I worked till 36+3 and went into labor that night.

I worked until 38 weeks . . . I literally went straight from work to my 38 week appointment, and after a few tests, was sent straight to L&D where my (unplanned) induction began almost immediately.

I worked from home due to a long commute at 39 weeks and did so right until the day I went into labor at 40 weeks. I had to get special permission to work from home though.

I worked my usual prebaby schedule of 4 days office, 1 day at home until 35 weeks. Then I worked from home for the rest of my pregnancy until 40 weeks. My last day was a friday. I went into labor the following tuesday!

I work for a hospital and am on my feet all day. I worked the day I went into labor at 39w5d....I'm pretty sure I worked while I was IN labor and just didn't know it yet It was hard at the end, but I was really trying to save my leave time.

I worked 830-5 the night my induction was planned I got off work, had dinner and then went to the hospital. I work from home though and sat a lot. It was uncomfortable having to be in the same position 41.5 weeks pregnant, but I wanted every second I could have with the baby!

With DD I worked all the way up to the day I went into labor at 40w6d! I am an engineer that used to develop large/small commercial retail sites and I told my boss at 14 weeks. This time around I waited until 17 weeks to tell my boss (different company) and I am an engineer that now does public infrastructure improvement. I'm hoping to work until 40 weeks or labor, depending which comes first. If #2 is late then I will use those extra days after 40w to spend with DD, though I may want to take off a little early to spend some 1-on-1 time with DD before #2 shows up.

My due date was July 15th, I was scheduled for an induction at 39 weeks (July 9th), and ended up going into labor on July 4th at 38 + 4. I stopped working the Friday before that, on July 31st.

I told my first boss at like 6 weeks, and then I changed jobs at 34 weeks and I'm pretty sure they knew right away

Working until I got into labor. I work in health care consulting and my job allows for flexibility to telecommute so I may ask to do that the last week or so depending on how uncomfortable I am. Still going strong at 36 weeks though.

I told my boss around 17 weeks, and the rest of the office around 20 weeks. No one had a clue, despite me being well acquainted with the bathroom in the first trimester - I was pretty shocked about that! One woman had a suspicion because I was eating more than usual but that was it.

I work as a lawyer at a small to midsized law firm, and I worked until I went into labor. I had an induction scheduled, and I planned to work the day before the induction (I was to be induced in the morning) but I went into labor before that. I told work at 13 weeks, and everyone was very happy for me. I told several people, including my assistant who spread the word. I don't think telling work impacted how I was treated at work.

I worked till 37+2. LO was born at 38+3. I believe I told work I was pregnant at 16 weeks. But, I was kind of high risk of going into early labour, so it was pretty much day to day from early on.

I am a lawyer, but I work in policy - work about 45 hours/week. I told work at 14 weeks. I worked full-time, in the office until 37 weeks, when my MW wrote me a note saying that I needed to telework full-time (she was worried about the stress of my job impacting my health). I worked about 30 hours/week from home until my water broke at 38w5d on a Tuesday afternoon. (I was really glad I was home already...) Had the baby at exactly 39 weeks. Took 17 weeks off.

Another lawyer here, full-time. I worked until the morning I left for the hospital after my water had broke. That said, when I was pregnant with my first, I was working as a cook which required me to be on my feet for 9-10 hour shifts, and I left at about 34 weeks.

I hate my job and don't plan on returning.
I'm only 6w4d right now and I'm counting down the days till I can tell them and also resign. I know I have a long way to go!
I plan on working until 32-ish weeks. I want to take 1-2 months to enjoy alone time and getting everything ready for baby.
I'm nt sure if I'll SAHM forever, but if I return to work it's definitely not to this job.
I plan on telling my employer around 14 weeks when I'm sure all is (relatively) clear. It would suck to quit and then have to un-quit. Haha.

I work in Finance and my plan was to work until 37 weeks, taking off the week before one of our busy times. But my doctor pulled me out at 36 weeks due to high blood pressure. Its a good thing too, I had DS at 37.5 weeks. Had I waited I wouldn't have had time to finish up all those last minute things I needed to get done.
