Also what do you do for a living? How many hours a week? How many weeks did you tell your employer?
I will tell my employer after our scan at 12 weeks. I am a PA and work 40 hours a week. I hope to work to 37 weeks.

I'm a manager of a team of data analysts. Last time I told my boss at 6 weeks and went out at 38 weeks. I had my baby the next day!

I'm an office clerk in a business office. My job is seasonal so I only worked until 24 weeks which was the end of the season.

I'm in sales and drive a lot for my job. I told my boss at 15 weeks, and said then I wasn't sure when I would go off - but probably a couple weeks before my due date. I've now told him Feb 28th will be my last day (due March 19th). DH wants me to take that last week as vacation though so I'm done earlier and so I can stop driving so much. If I stop on the 28th I'll be 37.5 weeks.

I'm a HS teacher (8-9 hrs a day) and I worked until 40 + 1 and was induced at 40 + 3. I told my employer when I was 12 weeks mainly because I was quite sick!

I'm an RN and I worked until 38 weeks. I work 12 hour shifts, 40 hours a week. I cut my hours down to about 25/week at 35 weeks as I started working only 8 hour shifts.

I got very lucky - the way my school terms worked out (I'm a high school teacher, in Sydney Australia), I have been off since 26 weeks. I think I would have been fine to work to 37-38 but in order for them to hire a mat leave replacement for me that wouldn't totally suck they asked me to stop working at the end of the 2013 school year so they could get someone to start at the beginning of 2014. It's been amazing having so much time off! Financially not the best, but still totally worth it!

With DS I had a non stressful desk job. I worked to 39 weeks and delivered at 39+4.
With DD I worked from home but with regular clients and deadlines. I decided to work until 37 weeks and delivered at 37+2! Luckily I stopped early, I had considered working until at least 38.

I'm a high school teacher. I told my department chair and the school nurse at 6 weeks, mostly because I was terribly sick right from the start. I told my principal at 9 weeks, mostly because I was afraid people would start to guess and rumors would fly. I wanted him to hear it from me. Around 12-13 weeks I began telling other coworkers.
I'm planning to work as long as I am able. As of now (29 weeks) I'm doing well. I'm hoping to work until he comes, but we'll see!

39 weeks. I worked until the day before I went into labor (went into labor on a Saturday). I have a desk job so while I was tired and uncomfortable, no more so than being at home.
persimmon / 1304 posts
I told my work at 8 weeks because I had so many appointments and didn't want them to start guessing. I planned to work to 39 weeks and went into labor at 38+5. I worked that Friday and went into labor on Saturday night.

I took off the night I had DS because I just couldn't do it anymore! Guess my intuition was right. I was 40 weeks pregnant and a teacher. I'll do the same thing with this one, work all the way until I literally can't anymore. I don't want to use any days that I could have with the baby.

My last day was my due date with my first.
My last day was at about 38 1/2 weeks with my second because it was a schedule csection at 39 weeks and I wanted a few days work free

38 1/2 in an office job - I was quitting to be a SAHM so I wanted as many paychecks as I could get. Last day was a Friday and I had LO on the next Monday.

I worked 40 hours a week at a desk job (software engineer). I went into labor at work at 39 weeks.

Same as @matador84: I decided I couldn't work or handle the commute anymore, and my water broke the next day at 39.1.
I'm a vet tech instructor, so always on my feet. I got put on light duty towards the end due to high blood pressure and swelling, but I don't sit still or handle boredom well, so I preferred to stay busy.
Due to occupational hazards, I told my bosses both times right after my first ob appointment. I plan to work as long as possible this time too, but I'm only part time with a very flexible schedule.

I'm a teacher, and worked until my doctor told me to stop, which was 34 weeks. She wanted me to keep the babies in as long as possible, and I was on my feet too much for her liking.

I'm a nurse in a hospital, I worked until the end! I work 12 hour shifts 3 days a week. I worked Friday at 39+2, next scheduled day was Tuesday and I went into labor Monday night! Not that I was HAPPY to be working, but I wasn't unable to... I was lucky and didn't have any problems with blood pressure, swelling, premature labor, etc.
I worked until the end so I could have my full 12 week maternity leave with my baby. Any time taken before birth would've been taken out of those 12 weeks! But I definitely debated calling in sick a number of times!! I think you kind of have to play it by ear and see how everything goes and how you feel.
ETA: I told my boss right when I found out I was pregnant due to patients I couldn't take care of, medications I couldn't handle, etc.

I'm at 40 weeks today and if no baby tonight (doubtful), I'll be going to work tomorrow. Working until the bitter, bitter end.
ETA: I work in higher education. I told them on my first day that I was pregnant at 14 weeks.

I was planning on going to work on Monday, at 39 weeks but my water broke Sunday night. 40 hours a week and a desk job. The last two weeks the doctor suggested I work from home two days if I could to help with some swelling I was having. Luckily my boss let me do it.

I work in Human Resources. I will be working up til when I deliver so I can take my entire leave after the baby is born. First timers are so likely to go late that I would hate to use a month or more of leave before he's even here.

I was planning to work until I went into labor, and did -- she just arrived 2 1/2 weeks before her due date so I still had a bunch of things left that I didn't get to finish up. It was fine, though. I'm a government lawyer, so I sit at a computer most of the day and don't have to work crazy law firm hours, so there wasn't any physical reason for me to stop working early.

I was a nanny. It was hard for me to continue my duties so I took unpaid leave at 35 weeks, and went back at 10 weeks.

I work in electronic publishing, as an editor (so, desk job). I told two of my managers at about 8 weeks, only because I found out someone was leaving the office — and I was being asked to take over some of her role — so I felt like it was the best time to tell them so they knew they would have to hire someone rather than just redistributing the work around. It worked out.
I worked till 37 weeks, but I had a scheduled c section at 38 weeks and 2 days. I had a little less than a week off before giving birth.

Pending any complications I plan to work up to my due date at my full-time job (medical secretary). I told my employer at 9 weeks.. everyone found out when I had my first OB visit with one of our doctors. Financially, it will be tight for me to take even the minimum maternity leave as I am the primary bread-winner, otherwise I'd love to go out sooner!
I have already cut back at my part-time job evening/weekends and will probably not resume that after the baby is born. My second job is retail and I'm on my feet running around constantly.

The last day of 38 weeks (which was a Friday). I had a C-section scheduled for the following Wednesday and going in for 2 days wasn't worth it! I worked a desk job and I totally would have kept sitting there if I wouldn't have had a c-section!
pomegranate / 3565 posts
I worked until the 2 days before my c section, but I could have worked until the very end. I have an office type job working as an underwriter. I told my work after my 1st ultrasound and doctor appointment.

I plan on working until I go into labor. I have 2 PT jobs (nanny and children's librarian) so my leave will not be paid. I wanted to maximize my time off with LO.

I told my employer right after I accepted the job of free that I was 20-something weeks pregnant! So I worked until I was 40 weeks and 3 days. I finished work on a Friday and was induced Sunday night.

I work until 39 weeks in an office environment. I went into labor at 39 weeks and 5 days. I think I'll ask to work from home for the last two weeks this time. I take the bus to work and the commute was awful toward the end of my pregnancy.

I was planning to work until 39 weeks, but ended up stopping at 37.5. I was so uncomfortable and just mentally checked out of work. It was also a crazy hot July, so that made things worse. My swelling and blood pressure were unreliable, too.
