Where did you get them and how much per announcement, if you remember. If you are comfortable, please post a picture or link!
I don't want to spend a ton, but I want to get some nice ones! I'm having a slightly hard time finding ones that aren't super sweet girly frou frou-- pink, fine, but not super duper girly. I've been looking mostly at Shutterfly and Tiny Prints.

I had a couple coupon codes for Shutterfly so I paid a lil over shipping for 40 prints.

I also had coupon codes for Shutterfly so I had free shipping and the cards ended up being a little over $1 a piece. They were printed on heavy cardstock.

We wound up using Tiny Prints after having a problem with our Shutterfly birth announcements. They were a bit pricier on Tiny Prints (maybe around $1.50).

There was a photography company that came to the hospital and took pictures. If you ordered pictures through them, they would give you birth announcements. It ended up being a better deal (I think we got a whole bunch of pictures plus the announcements and the digitals for $100).

We didn't. I even designed them but never got around to sending them out.
But my plan was to upload my design to Vistaprint bc I agree. I hate all the girly ones and the nicer ones are too $.

We used Minted's "fairy tale beginnings" template with a personal letter and three more pictures on the back. It wasn't as twee as the name would suggest 
We used coupons and paid $175 for 100. Since L is a December baby, they replaced last year's Christmas cards, so I didn't feel the expense as an extra.

I used shutterfly and we didn't order enough the first time, so we had to do a second order, which cost us a lot more per unit. So, get more than you think you need!!!

I think I paid about $30 for 75 cards from Shutterfly, but I had a couple $20 Shutterfly gift cards that I got from Motherhood Maternity. So I don't remember how much it was total...

I ordered from Minted.com. I had a $25 refer a friend credit and another coupon so for 25 announcements, I paid around $10. They are still doing the $25 refer a friend credit, just FYI (wall me if you want that!). However, the announcements are quite expensive at around $2.50 each normally.
I looooooved our announcements... they were super high quality. Much better than the Christmas cards we typically order from Shutterfly and I had a hard time choosing a template I wanted to go with because there were so many cute options.
We used the Sweet Wreath template.
