It should be about $150 for delivery and zero for all prenatal care. We are sooo lucky to have great insurance since I have to have so many ultrasounds. I cannot imagine how much this pregnancy would be otherwise. I'm not sure what it will be if the babies have to be in the NICU, but generally, our insurance is pretty great so I can't complain at all!

@jedeve: US as well. I can't remember if I used my United Healthcare coverage or my husband's Cigna. I had both at the time.

$375 copay or everything.
We have an HMO - all doc visits, ultrasounds and tests were covered and we put $500 on our FsA card to cover the birth, pretty great!

Here in Newfoundland I only paid for my private room. Less than $50. And I had a caesarean.

I have military insurance and the HMO version (no choice in almost anything). It was free including the room, the c-section, longer stay, etc.

Bill was for $500 total for everything...but the hospital gave a discount if we paid online by a certain date, so I think we only paid $400.

@prettylizy: I would call the hospital, and ask why you were never asked about the charges?
I'm in Ontario too, we had to leave our cc when admitted for fees for private room, but it ended up costing nothing as my coverage got us to semi-private, DHs coverage got us up to private.
So $0 for us, aside from the Tim Hortons costs

@Beebug: we looked into it, there wasn't much we could do. The room actually cost over $400 but our work coverage brought that down to $117.
They did offer to put us on a payjment plan, I politely declined! lol!

@prettylizy: lol payment plan!
Wow on cost for room!! Pvt was $285, semi $245 at ours I think (we are East of Toronto)! Friends of ours were charged incorrectly at ours that's the reason I suggested contacting them! Good you did, brutal they didn't make things clear in the first place though.

@Beebug: I don't know what their Standard operating procedure is, but in our area (Windsor) there is only one hospital that has an L&D unit so whatever the price is, that's what you pay. It never even occured to me to ask if there was a price #canadianproblems
How far east of TO are you?
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@prettylizy: not far East We delivered in Oshawa! We would have had to go more East to Cobourg, or West to Ajax or Markham/Stouffville for closest L and D's! DH is headed to Windsor this weekend for hockey, first two nights on my own (LO 4 weeks tomorrow!) with our girl!

@Beebug: Ha! Small world, I'm headed to TO next week to visit my sister (She lives in the Danforth Area) and I'm very familiar with Markham/Stouffville, that is where my comany's head office is, we'e up there once or twice a year for AGM's and stuff like that.
Good luck on your first night alone! It's actually kind of fun having her all to yourself for a little while. Then you're happy to have DH back! lol!

Zero for everything prenatal!
For delivery: I think I paid $400 for the epidural and maybe $200 for the hospital stay?
I had awesome insurance. One of the perks of working for gov't.
