It totally depends on what the "party" consists of, aks the other brides maids and see what page they are on?

I think that is very reasonable. I haven't been to many bachelorette parties lately (almost all of my friends are already married!), but I went to one a few weeks ago, and just for dinner and wine it was around $50. Personally, I think between $100-$200 is fine.

I wonder if everyone is young? When I was young maybe early 20s that would seem like an arm and leg to me! Now that I’m older it seems more reasonable to me.

I just planned and went to one. We rented a house on the lake, party bus to take us to the wineries, private tasting and lunch, tshirt and sunglasses for a girls, and all food and drink. It was $235 a girl. There were 17 of us, 18 with the bride but she didn't pay anything of course.

@simplyfelicity: if that was the only activity, i'd be fine with that! but i recently paid $90 for wine tasting and transportation for part of a destination bachelorette party and i was pregnant, so that was super annoying to me because the MOH didn't offer any other options/discount for the non-drinkers.... even though she needed my other pregnant friend and i to go in order to meet the minimum requirements for the trip.... but that was just the most expensive part of an expensive 36 hours.

is there another option besides a limo service to get you ladies around?

@simplyfelicity: that sounds reasonable to me too, but I am also from the tristate area. I've been to ones that cost way more (weekend in south beach) or less, but really, in most cities in the northeast I think thats kind of standard. But of course, totally depends on people's situations and expectations. Fwiw I was MOH for my friend and did exactly that (limo, wine tastings, lunch) and it was fun. About that price too but no one complained- I was up front about the total cost at the very start of planning to make sure it was ok.

Maybe if you just do pedicures and dinner, you and your bff can do something else fun just the two of you?

@birdofafeather: yeah that sucks. Allowances need to be made for people who literally cannot partake!

I would assume to spend $100-200 per girl for a wknd and wouldn't have any problem with that!

I would be THRILLED if a bachelorette party was only going to cost me $125

For what you want to do, that sounds like a bargain! And I'm in the south, not the tri state area.

Super reasonable! But I think that I'm in a city where people tend to go over the top for a bachelorette party. I know my sister who is in a smaller town and in a different financial situation would think that was a lot. She'd pay it though! But she'd think it was a lot.
I don't know what your situation is, but if it were me I'd try to cover one expensive-ish aspect of it on my own to alleviate the cost for others. Or just subsidize it (pay $500 so that everyone else's cost came down to like $50 or whatever. Totally making up numbers!)

I wouldn't be able to afford that right now as a SAHM, and I'm pretty sure that only one of my four bridesmaids would have been able to afford that. Honestly, I think this isn't the best place to ask this question, because the answers are going to be skewed - typical discussion topics on here are stuff like PBK furniture, Nordstrom sales, expensive brand name diaper bags and shoes, house cleaners, etc. The majority of users here are definitely not going to have any trouble paying $125 for a bachelorette party. I would.

Now, if an important friend asked me to be in her wedding, I would say yes in a heartbeat. And I would have to start saving up to make sure I could afford everything. The dress, a shower gift, a wedding gift...and yes, the bachelorette party. But if I was e-mailed info about one that cost $100+ with no previous discussion of everyone's budget for it, I would feel guilty but also kind of annoyed. Have you asked her what she has in mind/can afford? In the past I've helped swing the difference for friends in situations like this back when I was working full-time.

I live in NY, so $125 everything included isn't bad at all! I would just be thankful that it's not a "lets fly to Vegas/Miami" type of thing!
