I've been a little surprised with what I've seen, and just wanted to know what you spend! Try to average but comment with details, since I know it's different if you can attend or not, if you're close, if you're family, your/their situation, geographic location, etc etc.
ETA: Related- if you don't attend a shower, do you give a gift?

About $30, but around here that's average for a friend. A close family member or BFF would be more like $50.

Generally I would spend 50-75 dollars or more on a close friend or family member but if I'm not as close the the guest if honor I would probably go more around 25-30 dollars. Generally though it really depends on my relationship with the person.

Usually around $100 since all the showers I attend are usually family or close friends.. If it's a friend (not too close) it's usually $50.
Also I hosted the shower for my older sister and am hosting one for my SIL. So I end up spending a lot more on them if you include shower costs!

Maybe $40? That seems to be the normal here. Most of the showers I have been to recently my mom is also invited so we go together and get a gift worth a lot more.
ETA: I remember when I had my shower my friend from NJ insisted that someone would be buying my crib since that is what they do in here circle (usually the godparents), but I insisted I would not be getting any big ticket items even close that value.

I voted $51-60 because I always aim for $50, but often go over budget. If its a really close friend, I'd spend closer to $100.

Oh and if I can't go I usually still send a gift unless its one of those things where I don't know why I was invited anyway. I might spend a little less but it depends on the friend.

It depends on how close I am to the person. I spent $150 on my SIL's shower gift, but for friends I usually spend about $50.

Showers I usually spend $50. Close friend I will spend more. If I don't attend I will send a gift, same amount as if I were attending. My mom always taught me that if I get an invitation, whether or not i can go, I need to send a gift.

I'd say $40-60, but if it was a close friend I would spend upwards of $100+.
I would send a gift it was a close friend or a family member, even if I couldn't attend.

$30 for coworker showers, or for babies that arrive and I wasnt invited to a shower or there was no shower.
$50-$100 if I was invited to a shower, regardless of whether I attend. Amount depends on our financial situation and what they registered for.

Usually $50-75, the $75 is more for closer friends rather than one of my husband's co-workers, as an example. However I did just spend a good $200 on my best friend, but I really wanted to give her things that I thought were actually helpful and didn't mind spending the money.
I do not typically send gifts if I can't attend, unless it's a very close friend/family member.

usually around 30, unless it's a super close friend then 50. our budget is super tight.
the only time i'd give a gift if i didn't attend the shower is if i visit the baby after their born.

$40-50 is my typical shower budget. If it were a close friend (none of my good friends have babies yet) I would probably spend more.

Usually $40-50 for a shower gift. $20 for a work shower group gift. I recently sent $100 to a cousin that I'm a little concerned how she might make ends meet once her baby arrives... but that's not typical. None of my super close friends/family have had babies yet.

Random friends, $25ish, family/good friends $50 maybe a little more.. I don't go over $75 for any type of shower. Holidays I do more, dunno why!
