We toured a preschool today and they talked a lot about giving kids exposure to risks.
For example, they are allowed to go out of the room and down the flight of stairs to the toilet by themselves. That freaked me out a bit. My DD is 3.
I also saw a four-year-old stuffing Lego into his mouth and the teacher let it go on for quite a while and even then only told him not to do it and didn't care when he carried on.
Is this kind of stuff normal?
I don't want to wrap her up in cotton wool but equally don't want her falling downstairs or gobbling Lego.

ETA: this is a UK preschool. Apparently being first aid trained is not a legal requirement!!!
