I've called a bunch of pest control places and left messages and the first place that called me back said $195! Yikes! It seems high....the nest is the size of a softball and under the eaves of our roof.
Anyone have any experience with wasp removal? Like how much it costs, not actually doing it yourself.

We have a wasp nest unde our eaves and hit left it there. Haven't had any issues. You might be fine just to leave it especially if weather will take care of it later.

@MrsMccarthy: Really? Even in Southern California? Will they vacate during the winter and then we can just knock it down?
I just want it gone though. Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps and makes me feel itchy.

My parents have had them from time to time and usually just spray them. They also have a big fake wasp nest which is supposed to deter them from coming around, kinda like a scare crow.

If it's only that size I'd probably buy the spray foam stuff and deal with it. Make your SO do it lol.

Ours was under our eaves too and there was no way we could get it without getting hurt. It was $90 and guaranteed

Update! It's gone! After more googling and calling we found Bee Busters and they came out within 2 hours and charged $75. Thank goodness......I can breathe again now!

My husband tried some sort of insect spray Grandad had and the wind shifted on him. The subtle mist still in the air made it difficult to breathe for several minutes.
He's gone back to his old standby- brake parts cleaner! He used to set it ablaze, but now he gets satisfaction from knowing that the evil things are dying from melting inside.
We have pigmy wasps, which he describes as like regular wasps on Berserker Rage. We were pulling vines, and there was apparently a small nest attached to a leaf. I was getting ready to yank another bundle and had barely rustled them.
Mr. Frog told me to get back, and I was already obeying, but just in case he also had the shoulder of my shirt pulling me back. Out come 10 or 15 angry little stingy bugs. We waited for them to settle back down, and Mr. Frog took the welding gloves (VERY thick leather) and smushed them, nest and all.
I had the baby bumblebee song stuck in my head the rest of the day.
