Yesterday the moving company came to do a walk-through and get an estimate of how much weight we will move. The relo benefits lets us move 26,000 lbs, but our stuff is estimated at just 12,500-13,000 lbs. The guy that came out said a house of our size usually has 5 or 6,000 more pounds of stuff. I guess we're minimalists?!
If you had to guess, how much stuff do you have in pounds? Are you more minimalist or hoarder?

I looked up the quote we were given when we moved from a 2 bedroom apartment in Brooklyn to Europe. They estimated 14 cubic meters and 3,000 lbs.

If I had to weight the entire contents of my home, including outdoor stuff, it would be into the 25,000 range for sure.
I feel like a hoarder, but I swear I am not....it's just that we have like 12 lawn inflatables for Christmas, 2 fake trees, all the trimmings, lawn furniture for the pool, two massive cantilever umbrellas.....

Ugh, thinking back fondly to my younger days when I moved overseas, taking nothing but what would fit in the two free checked bags... I think we don't have too much stuff, but a big goal I have this summer is still to purge/donate more of it.

I literally have no idea, I am pretty minimalist but my husband is a saver (he's def not a hoarder though). He also has A LOT of tools that I think would add a lot of weight! However, we have a small house and not a ton of furniture so that would bring it down again. So probably average?

I have no idea but given that DH has over 600 art books and I have close to 100 cookbooks plus we have 4 couches I'm guessing close to a billion pounds.

When we moved previously our quotes were:
Boston-Miami...1.5bd apartment...2,500lbs
Miami-Detroit...2bd apartment...4,000lbs
We now have a 3,000 sq foot home...plus basement...I'd bet we're around 15,000 now...holy crap!

I'd think we're more minimalists. I am pretty ruthless about not keeping things b/c I hate clutter, while DH is more of a hoarder but I usually win 
But as DD grows we're def acquiring more toys for inside and outside!

I have no clue, and ZERO desire to know. We have a 4,700 sqft house that I swear is at least half covered in toys at all times and my husband never throws anything away!! We probably have 100lbs in his old baseball cards alone 
And he has a shoe collection that would both horrify and impress you. Not to mention, you know, our furniture!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: The most useful is probably Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything, it has a ton of basic recipes and for each there are a bunch of variations. Also a combo of quick items and more elaborate dishes. It also covers all the meals/courses.

I would guess on the lower range. We're definitely minimalists and we don't have a garage so it really limits what we can keep!

I did not even know weight was a thing for moving. We hire movers but it's all driving. I think of myself as a minimalist but our house is 3000 sq ft and we have quite a bit of antique furniture so I'd guess on the higher end of weight.

Just moved and we had 2380, but we still have some stuff back at the house (boxes, small furniture like side tables), so I estimate a little less than 4000
