I could easily get my work done with 5 hour days. So lots of wasted time! (Not true at my old job, was much busier!)

I have 19 seven year olds clamoring for my attention 6 hours a day and then I spend the other 2 frantically trying to catch up on paperwork/meetings/parent phone calls..... so none! Though I do shut my door, turn off my lights and have some "peace and quiet time" during my lunch hour every day, haha. I need it for my sanity!!

I struggle with focusing at work. I hate to think about how much time I waste not being able to focus or concentrate =/

I'm probably similar to you. I get all my work done - makes me think of how great it would be to work part days.

Some days I buckle down and waste none. Other times I'm like @LindsayInNYC and have trouble focusing, those days suck.

Lately I waste all most all of it! Seriously, I'm a therapist in a residential setting, and have transferred all my clients b/c I'm due in a couple weeks. So...I just sort of do some paperwork, hang out with co workers, and mess around online. Nobody Expects much of me at this point.
Usually it's pretty much crazy all day, I work with a high needs population and there is always a crisis to deal with (followed by a mountain of paperwork)

I could probably get all my work done with 3-4 day work weeks, but some weeks I definitely need all five days. I have trouble focusing sometimes.

@LindsayInNYC: ditto. billing time makes it glaringly obvious!

None...I arrive at 8 and bust my ass to get out the door by 430 everyday!

@LindsayInNYC: ds is a huge motivator! I use outlook and calendar EVERYTHING! And I mean everything. It helps keep my day focused and on track.
I know a lot of people HB at work, but if I did I would just be squandering time when I need to be doing work stuff. I wish I could though...I feel HB lost some days! I do a lot of things some people might consider weird to help me focus and not get side tracked. No pics of family/friends up...it leads to a ton of side conversations. I am known at work for my worker bee ethic and getting insane amounts of productivity done in short amounts of time!

None! My job just keeps going. I work in a scheduling hub (call center) for a major clinic and there is always something to do.. Actually I'm not actually doing that part yet, I'm still on training meaning I spend most of the week in a classroom being taught the computer systems and policies, and the rest of the time shadowing others and watching them... But in about a month that's what I'll be doing

I work in an Autism classroom, so I wish I had some downtime during the day! I'm lucky if I have enough time to stop and do some paperwork. Don't get me wrong, I love my kiddos, it's just a very hectic classroom!

@matador84: What exactly do you schedule in outlook? I know it'll vary by job. I really need to block Internet. I did it myself for Facebook, Twitter, etc. which helps a bit too. I think once we have a LO it'll become easier to focus on work at work!

None, I'm on the run from when I arrive at 7:30 until I leave by 6, if I'm lucky. I have 10 students always needing something (and mine are adults, I don't envy those of you teaching kiddos!)- even during my breaks and lunch. Speaking of lunch, usually I have meetings during lunch since it its my only full day on campus. I do feel much more productive at home than at work, where I'm always getting interrupted. On my work from home nights, I have too much to do and very few quiet hours to myself that I have to make the most of it. I'm a little jealous of those having extra time in their day!
I need this sign for my onsite days:

@lemondrop: lol!
yea I used to work in a bill by hour environment, so I wasted little time - the pace is so different at my new job and it so hard to stay motivated bc most of my work doesn't have hard fast deadlines!
honeydew / 7909 posts
Most days, I don't waste any (my patients keep me pretty busy). But some days can be slower and I'll hop on the internet and shop. =O
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
I see clients so it depends on my schedule for the day. If i have 8 people scheduled i am busting my butt all day. I have 2 people today and a meeting so..... lots of wasted time once I get my other work done.

@runnerd: at my last job I would often feel like I could get 5 days of work done in 2 or 3.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
Average day I probably do ~2 hours of work, tops. So I waste 6 hours a day.
Busy day, I work ~4 hours nonstop, then waste 4.
I can make my 2 hours of work take 8 hours haha. It sounds relaxing, but it's really miserable. There isn't 6 hours worth of stuff to do on the internet everyday.

I used to get 5 days of work done in 3. Now I work from home, so every hour that I'm clocked in I am working my butt off.

@LindsayInNYC: @MsLipGloss: Oh yes on this! It's horrible to go back and bill for those days.

@LindsayInNYC: me too. Especially on days when I'm sick. Then I can't focus on anything.

@Ash: This is by far my biggest offense at work! I lurrrrrve me some shopping!
