DD went in a 5 days, 1 month, 2 months, and 4 months. That's it!

With #1 we were there a lot as I questioned every diaper rash etc. with #2 we just did the necessary appointments so far.

First shots usually aren't until two months.
We went the day after we left the hospital, two days later for a weight check, two weeks, one month, two months, four months.

In the first three months we went 0 times with DS (the midwife did his well baby check at a few days and then at six weeks) and with DD we went twice - once at a few days for weight check and then once at six weeks for a referral to have her tongue/lip tie looked at by the ENT.

E was in the NICU for a week, so we had quite a few ped appts the first couple of months. T had his tongue tie clipped twice and subsequently a lot of weight check ups. I'd rather stay close to the comforts of home, personally.

That's tough that he'll be away for a month after your EDD! We stuck to the scheduled immunization and weight checkup appointments. However, you never know what kind of baby you'll have or health issues you/they may have. I say if you're feeling up to it, would be nice to be with your DH. I would also wait to decide until AFTER baby comes

ETA I have seen several posters on here mentioning that they didn't fly until after the 2 month shots though, so I would look into that.

Went 6 times. Went 3 times the first month she was born (she was under weight so making sure she was gaining). then once every month.

4 days old, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months. First shots are at 2 months, so I wouldn't fly before then.

Our appointments were at 2 days (hospital breastfeeding and weight gain check in), 2 weeks, 2 months, and next one is 4 months. The only other time I've taken her in is at 3 months, because I wanted to split her 2 month shots into 2 visits, so it wasn't 4 immunizations in one day. The first round of immunizations happens at 2 months, as others have mentioned.

I'd also take into consideration that you may not want to be away from home in those early days. I took my 1 month old to visit my parents, 2 hours away, for a weekend, and it was great, but I didn't want to travel more than that. I liked being home, with everything we needed, in a familiar environment.

I wouldn't schedule a trip that early on; just because you never know what will happen.

with DS1 - he went for the five day check up, then weight checks (2x) the following week. Then first shots at his 2 month well check.

with DS2 - he went for first visit at 3 days, back again at 5 days for a weight check, then every day until day 8 for blood draws (jaundice) then overnight hospital stay that night (jaundice treatment). He had two followup pedi appts the second week to make sure his jaundice levels stayed down. Then we went back at 6 weeks because of suspected reflux and at 2 months for his regular well check.

They keep it simple for us.

I feel like I had a lot. I had one about every 2 weeks until 2 months because of eating and reflux issues. I wouldn't personally take a trip so soon.

Midwives came to my house every few days to weigh him. Then weigh in at the doctor at 1 month. Needles at 2,4,6 etc.

We went in a bunch during the first few weeks. She lost a lot of weight and we had latch issues, so there were a lot of follow-up appointments to make sure she was gaining weight, plus a couple of lactation consultant visits.
