I just took the covers off my chicco keyfits and put them in the wash. It's actually more trouble than it's worth for the little amount of milk or spit up I had on it. I think I could have easily take a wet towel to wipe it clean. I had to run the wash twice because the the washer didn't clean the dried on milk.

Just recently because the kids threw up in the car.
I only wash when I notice it's dirty.

DD is almost 14 mo and I've never even really wiped down either carseats so far. Just had to get out crumbs.

I've only washed it once and that's because she had lice. I will wash my infant seat cover when I get it back from my SIL though.

Our infant seat was hand wash only, so I took it off twice in the 11 months she used it but otherwise would just spot clean. Her convertible seat cover can go in the washing machine but she has only been using it for 3 months and it's still perfectly clean so I haven't washed it yet.

Never with the infant seat. One every few months once we switched to the convertible (and she got messier). We have the Maxi Cosi Pria and the material is so cushy that it takes forever to dry!

I've washed it three times in 3 years. Each time after a long drive (we moved across country twice in that period). And only because she'd leaked and it smelled BAD.
Ours has to be hand washed and aired dried so it doesn't shrink, so I had to make sure I did it a day I knew we weren't going anywhere the next day.

The infant one I washed between kids and after blowouts. I didn't think it very hard. The convertibles I've never washed. The Clek's don't have removable covers.

Only once because of a legit vomit situation. I wouldn't do it again unless there was a big mess (blowout, vomit, etc). A little spit up or milk wouldn't make me do it!

Um...never! Luckily we haven't had any vomiting issues. So much food gets stuck in the little cracks and crevices. Gross! Regular vacuuming happens though.

Whenever they puke, which is actually often. We have Chicco nextfit zip for that reason. We previously had the Keyfit and DH soon became an expert at removing/replacing the cover.

I never washed the infant seat cover with LO1. Our convertible cover was only washed once due to an unfortunate milk spillage event.
I've been pretty lucky with LO (2.5); no blow outs, throw up, etc. I'm scared for the future typing this answer...

@Caly: do you like the next zip? I'm seriously considering it as we will need a convertible soon. Easy wash is key for me. LOs favorite place to poop is there car seat which results in epic blowouts

Never - crossing my fingers but we've never had blowout, pee, vomit, spills (don't do drinks/food in the car), etc. on it.
It's been wiped down from dirty shoes, etc. -
never washed her infant seat. we have the maxi cosi, and the whole seat cover can go in the wash...I've had to wash it a lot for pee accidents, and a couple times for vomit.

@Littlebit7: I gotta admit, from sheer luck we haven't had a puke incident yet with it. We haven't had it long or had many opportunities to use it, though, since we don't ride in the car every day with them. So far, I like it. I looked at a ton of different seats and based on reviews/feedback from associates in the stores and also just by looking at each seat in the store for ease of removal and the Nextfit won easily. That, and it's rated high for safety.

I haven't washed my wee guy's seat since he's been in it but he doesn't yet eat in the car or vomit in it so it doesn't really get dirty (he's ten months) but my big girl gets carsick so hers gets washed on a semi-regular basis!

I washed the infant seat when it came out of storage (and was moldy, gross!).
Convertible I only washed the one time she vomited in the car. It was so gross. Ugh.
@Caly: @Littlebit7: I have the regular nextfit, and it was a pain to take the cover off and put it back on. It was the only time she's done it but at the time I was really wishing I'd gotten the zip! My friend has the zip one and her daughter throws up sort of a lot and she is 100% glad she paid up for it!
