How often should you throw away and replace your LO's pacifier? I wash them often, but I'm thinking I should replace them soon, but I don't know the "rule" and time frame in which you should do this.

The website for the pacifiers we use (Hevea) says they should be discarded after 2 months' use. Oops, we need to buy new ones!

@Beehive: oh gosh, if that is true for all pacifiers then I need to get on that! Yikes.

@Bao: DD is 4 months and I haven't replaced any! She used to use them a few times a day.. has about 8, and now only uses 1 about every other day.. so, I think I'm okay??
What do yours look like? My Mam ones still look brand new.

@LaineysMom: she has the Avent ones and they look fine to me...

DS is 6 months old and we have about 5 binks going at any time. I think I've done a total overhaul 3-4x. He has such a strong suck that you can actually see when they're starting to get worn! We use the avent soothies, and he's still using the 0-3 month one (won't take the 3+ or 6+ ones!).

@buffalove: we have soothies too - some of hers are 0-3, and i think 2 are 3+...I can't figure out the difference! Are they different sized nipples? I've stared and stared and just can't get it, lol.

It took me forever too! The 3+ and 6+ are thicker, I'm assuming for when they start teething (??). When DS turned 3 months I tried to switch and he was not having it! I tried again recently but still no go, so I figure I'll just have to replace them more often. On the soothies, I can actually see them breaking down where the little nub sticks out....it kind of makes an upside down "U" if that makes any sense!

We haven't replaced our NUK ever, but I feel like we lose them so often that they never last more than a month anyways! Between home and daycare we are losing them like crazy!

Eek, we haven't replaced any of our pacifiers. He's using the Avent ones up to 6 months. I have the 6+ ones waiting to be used. Now I'm tempted to pick up some new ones to be safe. I micro steam them a couple times a week when they've hit the floor, etc.

@Bao: then I think as long as you clean them you're probably fine.. I just inspect hers often.
