@MungBean: Hope you don't mind me asking but how has your LO been doing with solids? I've been concerned because my son is still eating a lot of purees at 11 months since the amount of solids he can eat are so limited. He does ok with finger foods of really soft stuff but pasta and meat he seems to be swallowing pieces without doing a lot of "chewing". There's been enough times that it's caused him to throw up that I've really backed off a lot on the next level of foods. I know people say they can mash things with their gums but I don't really agree with that- I think not having a lot of teeth is affecting him.
