My DD is 10 months and just babbles but we're all pretty sure she says "mama" whenever she sees her milk. So we'll give her credit for one word. My DS is 3 and he says too many to count now. YAY!

She's 13 months. Her words: hi, bye, tank (thank you), no, ba (ball and her baby friend's name), baby, mama, dada, uh oh, wow, and ouch. Her favorite is thank you. She will hand us things all the time and say thank you and then expect us to give the item back.

I have no idea. Definitely over 100, but I don't think I could count them. LO is 25 months. He didn't really have any words till he was 15 months, but now he talks all the time.

12 months

mama - not sure if he means it
dada - think he means it
da or wuh wuh (barking) for doggy - pretty sure he means it
nonononn - when he doesn't want something

LO only has about 3 and she is almost 13 months.. She consistently says dada and sometimes mama (only when she is pissed and wants me!) and baby

20 months, and she has about 300 words, maybe? She's all about adjectives and different verb tenses lately, which is so cool to see.

11 months she says 8 words constistantly.

DD is 10.5 months old and she says 3 words, all meaning the same thing. Her favorite word is hej. She says it whenever she sees a stuffed animal or anything with a face for that matter.

@HLK208: OMG I'm picturing her asking daddy how he's doing when he gets home and that is just the cutest thing ever!

@banana: really? I'm glad that she's learning words quickly because she's taking longer with gross motor skills (just learned how to crawl, no interest in walking). DS was the opposite!

Wow. What advanced babies you all have! My daughter is 13.5 months. She talks *all* the time, but most of it is jargon babble (i.e. she sounds like she's talking in a made up language). Then again, maybe I'm just not paying close enough attention b/c a number of people have told me they think she has more words than I give her credit for.

Words that I think she has down are:
Die-ee (Hi and bye)
Duck
Dat (That, or what's that?)

I also think she might know daddy and mama, but she doesn't necessarily use them correctly. She usually uses the words Daddyaddyaddyah and Daddyum around DH, so I think those might both mean dad to her. She'll cry mama when she's distressed too.

@skibobrown: same - my son doesn't shut up all day and is talking constantly, but we just don't understand any of it yet ; )

@winniebee: haha I'm going to say M means it bc she's always looking at me or crawling towards me. I'm sticking to that story!

Lots of animal sounds... I know I'm missing some words , and obviously they are not all perfectly clear to strangers (though most would be understood by a stranger at least). Ellie was pretty seriously speech delayed so it has been so strange to me to have such a talker this time. As strange as it sounds, I still worry sometimes about her language development, even though she is doing just fine. With Ellie I did signing and she did have quite a few words in her signed vocabulary at that age. With Lorelei she has seemed more interested in the words themselves, so we skipped signing almost entirely.

@Mrs. Banana; Don't you love all the sweets that she can say? I forgot cookie. Proof that she really IS a second-born, I suppose (and that sister was in a sharing mood around Easter time).

My daughter is 22 months. She knows too many to count at this point. She picks up a new word everyday. It's been a lot of fun since we didn't experience toddler talk with my son when he was her age.

@Mrs. Twine: I tend to agree with you on this. My son is speech delayed but is quickly catching up. He also has advanced math & literacy skills but I see that some of his friends are starting to catch up to him. So it's starting to all even out as time progresses. By the time they're all 5 or 6, I doubt we'll be able to tell who the late talkers/early readers were. I was a super early talker and my brother was a late talker (didn't really say much until he was 2.5). He's a computer engineer and definitely smarter than me. You just never know!
