@Oxana: our dentist is more in line with what you said. LO will be two tomorrow, and while he's visited to get used to it, he hasn't had a cleaning.

DS turns 2 tomorrow and hasn't been yet. My dentist said there's no need to bring him in before 3-4 and that earlier than that they don't understand and it's scary. I agree with her for our son. It would be really traumatic and somewhat futile right now.

@ShootingStar: your dentist said it's scary for children? What an odd comment. Is that a pediatric dentist? We took our daughter to a pediatric dentist and I was pleasantly surprised to see all happy kiddos--no crying to be heard or anything traumatic. Both dentists in the practice are women and they only treat kids--so their reception area has video games and train and activity tables, and they give all kinds of presents (both tooth care related and just fun stuff).
My daughter actually really liked going both times--the second time even more so, because she knew she'd get stickers. She didn't think it was scary at all.
