DD wasn't a big baby or anything, but she just hated her infant seat so she was in a convertible by 7 mo.

About five months for DD1 and three months for DD2. Infant seats in Australia are much, much smaller than the ones in the US, so my girls outgrew them height wise quite quickly. We could have kept DD2 in hers for another month or so, but we were moving and had only rented our infant seat (a common practice run by the ambulance service in Australia) so we just returned it at that time and got a convertible. They both stayed rear facing until nearly two years old though with the additional infant inserts until they outgrew them.
