18! I was a goody two shoes and didn't drink in high school. And I was so close to 19 which is the legal age here! Not quite a rebel lol.

I was 19. My Freshman year at college I went home with a friend for Thanksgiving, and had a wine cooler with Thanksgiving dinner. And then I got kind of tipsy, started talking really loudly, and turned bright red from embarrassment that everyone could tell I was tipsy.

15 - went to junior prom as a freshman and drank a beer and Zima (remember those?! ) at the after party, and my mom totally caught me and I was grounded for a long time.

I was 14 and we broke into my friend's mom's Southern Comfort we found in a cabinet while she was at work as a nurse one night and we were by ourselves. It was DISGUSTING!
Then I discovered daiquiris by the time I was 16 or so...In Louisiana, there are daiquiri places that only make all different types of daiquiris. You can even buy gallons of them. Most of them are pretty strong and have names like "190 Octane." Meanwhile, they taste fruity and delicious. The drinking age was 18, so we were always able to find someone to buy us daiquiri gallons!
I miss living in La. and getting Cajun Eggnog Daiquiris during the holidays! That's the best thing you'll ever have in your life!!!

14 or 15. Summer before sophomore year in high school (I'm a summer baby and can't remember if it was before or after my bday) we were at my friend's summer house and went to a party with a bunch of older people. Vodka and country time lemonade.

I was 21, but not on my 21st birthday. It was several months later and a roommate of mine had been given a $200 bottle of cabernet and told me to try it. Can't say that I loved it, but I can say that I've tried some seriously expensive wine.

I was 13 or 14. I was a little rebellious.
@PrincessBaby: Eggnog daquiri! Yumm!

@PrincessBaby: I have heard of these daiquiri places and I am envious.
I was 17. Went to Ireland for my high school spring break and we pretty much spent the entire time getting drunk out of our minds (didn't take much!) while our teachers did the same, but at different bars.

Unfortunately I was about 5 or 6. When my grandmother used to babysit us she would give us a small can of Budweiser with our dinner. It was our "special juice"!

@PrincessBaby: I went to college in NOLA and never had a Cajun Eggnog Daquiri...that sounds delicious!
I was a freshman in high school the first time I tried alcohol....so, 15ish?

@meredithNYC: In New Orleans, they have drive-thu daiquiri shops! They hand it to you while you're behind the wheel of a vehicle! The rule is that it's not open container unless the straw penetrates the lid:) So it's totally legal to pick some up while you're driving and bring them home:)

@luckypenny: same. I was at a friends house and her older sister was having a party. We split 3 coolers over the course of a night.

Never. I've never drank alcohol, ever. I started using it for cooking when I was 19 though.

@lawbee11: OMG, they are to DIE for. I always got them from the New Orleans Original Daiquiris/Fat Tuesday places. I am trying to figure out if my sister can get some here to me in South Florida when she comes after H is born! Like check an ice chest or something with a couple of gallons in it! It used to be like our tradition to get Cajun Eggnog daiquiris and then go do our Christmas shopping in Metairie at the mall:)

@PrincessBaby: My mom is from Lafayette and we usually go there for Thanksgiving and Christmas....I wonder if they have any around there? I will have to look into it!

@mrsjazz: Whoa! Hahaha. Was that to get you to go to sleep? And did you like it? I remember accidentally having a sip of my mom's beer when I was about 6 and I was disgusted.

14, at my parents' annual memorial day BBQ...I had a college-aged family friend sneak me drinks! What a rebel I was
coconut / 8234 posts
@meredithNYC: Ha. I think we liked it because I remember drinking it more than once. We were sad once my mom found out and the special juice was no more. Little alkies.

@mrsjazz: Oh my God, I would love to hear how the conversation between your mom and grandmother went down!

Probably about 15 or 16? I think it was probably a wine cooler or Mike's Hard Lemonade

Other than sips with my parents? 15. My babysitter (parents were out of town) snuck me into a bar. So, yeah.

I was 20 and drank spiked punch by accident. That was also the night I met DH.

@PrincessBaby: the drive through daiquiri shops is one of my favorite Colbert Reports.... "Almost a good idea"
I've always gotten sips of beer and wine from family growing up, it was never a big deal. I liked my grandparents' Old Milwaukee so much I would steal the cans and hide under to table with them!

our parents let us sip beer or wine while we were growing up, but i always thought it was gross. that was probably what they were trying to get us to think.
i never tried alcohol again until my sophomore year in college at a house party, but it was only half a cup of jungle juice and i was done for the night!
next time was right after turning 21, out at dinner with my parents.

My parents would let me try sips of their beer or wine.
However, on my own and in excess, I was 14 at my friends house, her mom bought us all coolers to drink all night.

I was 15. But I didn't get drunk until I was 18--the day after high school graduation.

I remember asking my parents to try their wine or beer when I was 8. I thought it was gross.
When I was 14, a friend and I snuck some vodka to a church retreat. So baaaad. We didn't get drunk, only a few sips then started gagging. Her parents (who were cops) caught us. At 15, I went to my first party and got drunk. I was obviously a terrible teenager.
pomelo / 5789 posts
My parents let me have sips etc starting around age 8.
The first time I got intoxicated was when I was 16 - The summer after I graduated high school, right before I started college.
