The thread about the 9 year old who gave birth got me thinking...when did you get your first ever period? I didn't get mine until I was 13, so in 8th grade.

@Mrs. Pen: I barely knew what a period was since my mom never talked to me about it that early and I don't think we had learned about it in sex ed yet. Thank goodness for Judy Blume!

I was 11, in the 6th grade. I know of a girl who was 7 when she first got her period. I've heard that early puberty has something to do with all of the hormones that are in the foods that we consume nowadays but I don't know if there's any truth behind it. Seems plausible, though.

@KissMeCait: I believe it, since I was vegan (and didn't get all those hormones in my food) and I didn't get mine till I was 16. Same with my little sister, she was 15. All our friends got theirs at 11 or 12.

hmmm; I was in 7th grade...so 12 I think. My mom knew somehow, as soon as I got home so was like "do we need to talk about anything????"

@Bao: my mom was th same way. She actually didn't get regular until she had me at 29 and then she started menopause at around 38.
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I was before I met my husband. It was the only way I would have a cycle. I'm anxiously waiting to see if my cycle will become normal now that I've had a baby. But he is 10 months old and I've had no signs so who knows.

@Arden: Maybe, but there were no hormones in my food either and I got it at 11. I think genetics have a lot to do with it.
