I was 14. Summer before my sophomore year of high school.

@Grace: You were vegan growing up too?

@SweetMamaM: I was 15 too - all of my friends had had theirs for ages and I was convinced there was something wrong with me! Once I got it though, I was totally over it and would have been happy to go another few years without!

@Arden: No, I grew up on a farm eating our own beef. We didn't add hormones. And beef is the only meat in Canada that can have hormones.

I was 9 or 10.. I was so scared.. I yelled "mommy help i'm bleeding."

17.. and I only had one then stopped! i've always been itty bitty.. the doctor said I probably didn't have the body fat to produce enough estrogen. I was put on OCP's shortly thereafter to regulate them, though looking back I wish I'd let my body figure things out naturally instead of artificially

I guess I was 11, about to turn 12. It was in 6th grade right before the Valentine's Day dance.

16, and definitely not vegan! I was the child of processed foods! Frozen dinners were my meal of choice... I couldn't eat Korean food (too spicy) so my parents would stick a Kid Cuisine or Stouffer's Lasagna into the microwave for me.

15, I thought I was never going to get it!

@Arden: our dairy doesn't have hormones either, unless it's imported from the states!

I was 11 (7th grade).

My cousin was 6 when she got hers...she had some medical procedure done after to stop and delay it

I was 8. I didn't have a clue. It was the summer before I was in 3rd grade so I actually think I may have been 7. My mom had not told me anything. She was as shocked as I was.

@Arden: It's illegal to have hormones or antibiotics in dairy in Canada.

Have you heard anything about estrogen from birth control pills in the ground water causing early puberty? I can't remember exactly if any studies were done, or if it was just speculation.
