@Bluestriped Bee- My parents had a Chinese restaurant too and I worked there since I was 14.
My first paid job was folding the dinner napkins at a penny a piece when I was 8 yrs old on the weekends. I would get excited when I got to 200 napkins because it meant I could walk over to the Krogers next door to the restaurant and buy my own candy and gum.

I was a babysitter and a mother's helper from 11 on, if that counts. My first "real" job was at 16 as a hostess at a chain restaurant. My dad made us all get jobs the summers we turned 16. We had to apply to at least 10 places a day until we got one!

My first real paying job was at 18. Before that I worked at my parent's restaurant since I was a kid. Occasionally I would get tips but it was more of a family obligation.
