DH and I were planning to buy a house within the next year (I'm 23, he's 24) but recent changes have caused us to reevaluate our plan. He wants to go back to school for something science-related and is working with a career counselor at the moment to figure out exactly what he wants to go into, so we've decided to just rent for a few years in case we relocate after he's finished with school.

It's kind of a bummer (original plan was house ASAP, then either TTC or start the adoption process before I'm 30), but it's also a weight off our shoulders for now. I mean, there's no sense in buying a house if we might move out of state in a few years, right? And we can still do the having-kids thing on our original timeline even if we don't own a home, I suppose; plenty of people have children in apartments and are just fine. Anyway, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it! No need to rush.
