Trying to find old pictures of landmarks in our city and then current pictures of what the area looks like now (this is for a scout project)
Maybe I am googling the wrong words but I am not having luck!
Thoughts on how to do this?

Or your local library

There are Facebook groups dedicated to this kind of thing - just search for "[your town] pictures" or something like that. The town I grew up in has a population of around 2,000, but has a very active group on Facebook that posts past and present pictures.

@Mamaof2: Check your local historical society too. I work for one and we have tons of old pictures in our archives.

Besides a local historical society, if you have a local university their archives may have a collection about the history of your town. Historical society is your best bet though, especially if you live in a small town.
