My first instinct was to pronounce it Li-NAY (which I guess is like your choice of Lin-AYE).

I voted for the third one as an English speaker, but the French in me would pronounce it slightly differently, Lee-nay, much like @zippylef.

I voted lin-eh but I am saying it as lin-a (sounds like the letter name not like at the end of bella).

@zippylef: Same.
If I heard it pronounced that way, though, I wouldn't know how to spell it-- I'd probably spell it Linnay, which I don't think is as pretty as yours. But I don't know how to do the accent over the e on the keyboard! (I'm in the US).

Ugh. I was pronouncing it Lin -a like a in cake. But I voted eh by accident. I was reading aye like I in ice cream. Don't ask.

@tequiero21: same here! i was reading aye as in aye aye captain! and eh as in how us canadians use it...

I would pronounce it Lin-eee, but mostly I would just think that is was needlessly difficult to pronounce for Americans.

@spaniellove: Exactly. Linnea was "the" name I fell in love with way before I found out it was a family member's middle name.
@sarac: I agree. It's a pain the ass to pronounce and even though it's supposed to be a local name here (where we're living) I secretly hate the accented e.
