My first instinct was the spanish pronunciation, like Carolina Herrerra, but for sure a lot of people in the US would pronounce it like the state. I think "Carolina" would hear both pronunciations their whole life.

Caroleena only because I have Hispanic students with that name and that's how they pronounce it!

like the states. I really love this name!! If M's middle name wasn't really similar this would totally be on my list.

Now I have that song "Heads Carolina, Tails California" stuck in my head.

@lawbee11: I was thinking "Sweeeeet Caroline . . . Da Da Dun . . . "

I'm Canadian - I don't think many people here would associate Carolina with the state pronunciation (but I could be wrong of course)... I definitely instantly thought of the spanish pronunciation.

Like the State. I feel like Leen-a has like a spanish flare to it?

@MrsKoala: yes, just like that. This was my Spanish name for all of 6-12!

@Ash: I picked care-o-line-a, but this way is actually more how I would say it.

@MsLipGloss: That's what immediately started playing in my head too, haha.

Like the state. Similar to if it's Caroline. For me, that's Caro-Line. I often get called Caroline because my formal name is close to it, but isn't.

my first instinct was car-o-leen-a.
then i thought of the states and the Shaggy song "Oh Caro-line-a", so i went with that.

I picked Caro-line-a, but I actually pronounce it care-uh-line-uh. I live a few minutes from the Carolina border, so that might impact my decision.

I would pronounce it like the state. Caro-line-a is what I chose in the poll.
