Are you charting or doing anything to pin point ovulation? Long cycles can occur at any time due to stress but so can late ovulatipn. If you only dtd in a certain window though it would probably be very clear at some point because sperm can only live so long. I'd say its always possible but chances are low unless you are not charting and have very irregular cycles combined with very regular sex.

I got a BFN on the day my period was due. I didn't re-rest for a full week, because I hate seeing BFNs. A week later, I got a positive. (And then like two more because I wanted to check. Ha.)

Are you charting? It is possible you simply O'd later than you think you did.

I have heard it is possible to not get a positive until well after your missed period, but it's likely rare. In any case I suggest testing every 4 or 5 days or so until you get AF or a BFP.

I've found that the information available on the pregnancy tests are pretty accurate about when you can rely on test results. I've only been pregnant once and I got a positive really early on, but it could have been because I implanted earlier than normal - which is when you start producing the hormone it detects. But I've heard it can take weeks to show up positive so hang in there!

I don't know anyone who has been in this situation. I've tested when I was a few days late and it was bfn. Then, I'd get my period.

@court_schaeff: Are you temping? If so, 18 days of high temps almost always indicates pregnancy. You might also call your OBGYN for a blood test.

@court_schaeff: when was the last time you tested? You should get positive by now.

@court_schaeff: If you don't get a positive next week or AF, I would definitely go to your doctor and request a beta.

@court_schaeff: FWIW, I would call your doctor and just go in (or even go to a doc in the box and request blood work). 6 days is a long time (especially if you are regular and can't pinpoint any changes that could be causing it, aside from BD'ing ). I said FWIW though because I tend to err on the side of caution, especially since if you are pregnant this is the period when your baby is most vulnerable. Regardless, start taking a prenatal vitamin!

Based on your LMP, you would be about 5 weeks (due September 5th) - I just googled "due date calculator" and used the first day of your LMP.

@court_schaeff: It's just a walk-in clinic - haha, sorry, that's what we grew-up calling them. I consulted Dr. Google a little and there was one woman who said that she got a negative beta test and after that he doctor decided to induce her period with meds so she could go on to the next cycle.

I was terrified this was going to happen to me this cycle. I was just convinced that I was having a phantom pregnancy. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a nerd.

A beta before inducing a period would definitely be a must, I agree with @bakerbee. I read that parlsey tea can help with the onset of menstruation. But I hope you get a BFP instead!

i couple of close girlfriends did not get their BFPs until 2-5 days after their missed period. they checked leading up to their period due date, and even on the day of and only got BFNs.

@court_schaeff: yes! I got sore nipples! I think that's a great sign. Maybe u just ovulated really late! Hoping u find resolution on Monday!!!

@court_schaeff: it's hard because a lot of pregnancy signs are also AF signs.. Only real way to know is Positive pregnancy test
