I go out for walks and do not bring a key since I can get in through the garage by entering a code. Well, apparently the thing broke this weekend and DH did not tell me. Thanks hon. DH is coming home now. Yay for always having my phone with me though!

OMG! I get freaked out about locking myself out (I enter through the garage as well)! If I had to wait for hubs to come home, that's a good hour at the minimum!

We keep a key with our neighbor. I always just go in and out through the garage too, but if the power ever goes out I'm kind of screwed!

I do the same thing. We also have a spare key locked away outside just in case this ever happens. Is there somewhere you could put one just in case this ever happened again?

I've done that several times too! Luckily we have a couple friend of ours who lives a few blocks away and they have our key so I just walked over there. Once, before we had this set up, I just had to wait at the library across the street for an hour.

I've almost locked myself out a couple of times while DH was out of town! Luckily it hasn't happened yet! Glad your DH is coming to the rescue!

I've locked myself out a few times-- but luckily, we have a spare key hidden in our backyard (our dogs are out there, so it's not easy for a stranger to get to it-- plus, it's not out in the open, so I don't think anyone knows where it is except for our close family members).

@Boogs: i know...i should really hide a key out in our backyard since we don't have anyone we can leave the key with that would be home in the middle of the day if i got locked out.

On Thursday of last week I locked my keys in the apartment, ugh. Hubs works 1/2 an hour away and was on his way to come get me when the maintenance man showed me how to get in if the deadbolt isn't locked (it wasn't). The next day I locked my keys in my car but didn't realize until after work.
I'm glad you're able to get back in! -
Oh no! ha. Good you had your phone. But I'm sure a neighbor would of let you used theirs if ever.

Oh no! That's the worst. It's a good thing he's on his way though. I locked myself out of the house last May when my husband was in another state. I had to call a locksmith, I was so pissed!

@BabyLove: that would have been me if I had taken a walk tomorrow as he is traveling for business. I would have been so pissed! Sorry that happened to you - I bet the locksmith charged a lot!

I locked myself out about this time last year. We had just had keys made to hide and give to the neighbor, but hadn't passed them out yet. Over $200 and a drilled doorknob later I finally got in. SO frustrating! But luckily I know how to change a doorknob and had an extra one laying around
it's my biggest fear to get locked out of the house or car. and great day for a walk!!
