Long story short, around the time we found out we were pregnant our cat was sick; kidney related. So, he gets very special prescription kidney food, and we also have a lot of water all around the house for him to make sure he's drinking plenty. In a complete moment of baby brain, I grabbed one of his "special glasses," went to fill it up with Brita water, and then instead of putting it back where it goes, I proceed to drink from it thinking I was getting water for myself.
Once I found out, I totally freaked, made myself vomit, and went into histerics. I am now convinced I have a brain parasite and am going to die. My husband thinks I'm overreacting. Please tell me I'm going to be ok. My 20 week appointment is next week.
Extra info: I've had this cat for 10 years, he's an indoor cat and only goes out on the patio but doesn't interact with any other animals, and I have been fairly calm and laid back the entire time I've been pregnant. This is my first freak out. Please tell me I'm not the only one who has done something this stupid while pregnant.

I'm confused - does the cat actually drink out of the glass? Or do you fill a glass with filtered water and then pour it in her bowl?

I think it's fine? From what I'm understanding, he's really drinking the same water you are, except it's "contaminated" by his tongue?
I still let my dog kiss me throughout pregnancy and it's been fine!

@Mamaof2: He has a bowl in the kitchen, and then he has a glass in the living room. So I drank out of his glass that he's been sticking his head in.
@snowjewelz: yes, he's drinking the same water we drink. Cold, filtered water. No tap for him!

I'm pretty sure you will be okay. I let my cats lick me throughout the entire pregnancy and even scooped their boxes (while wearing a mask and gloves). Call your OB for peace of mind though.

@GreeneB2: I would think it's okay! If you are worried just give your doc a call; but I'm not sure if there's much they can do? In the mean time maybe just drink more water to flush out your system if you're worried!

I'm sure you're fine - I think the CDC says you're much more likely to get toxoplasmosis from gardening or raw/undercooked meat than from a cat (http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/toxoplasmosis.html and http://www.cdc.gov/healthypets/pets/cats.html). And it's the outdoor cats that you generally need to worry about!
If you're really concerned, call your doc to see what they say. My dog slobbers on me all the time and I'm not worried about it.

I would not worry about this for a second. Surely you still cuddle with your cat and everything so any "germs" she has have made their way into your body somehow. Don't stress.

I'm sure I've had water after one of my cats got into it, they're always trying to drink out of our glasses. Try not to worry! Maybe think of it this way -- any horrible parasite that would harm you would most likely also harm your cat. Sounds like he's normal (aside from the kidney issues) so I think he's probably not harboring any terrible things

I wouldn't worry at all. My cat regularly steals water out of our glasses - and did throughout pregnancy.
