I know I've been calling him a toddler since his first birthday but I didn't really believe it until now...
The toddler rails for H's crib arrived Wednesday and I have been anxiously (and excitedly!) waiting for this weekend to have DH put them on. If you'll recall, my little daredevil of a son has been caught on the corner of his crib climbing out a few times but in the past few weeks he hasn't even tried it. It's been nearly a month since last I caught him although he's toed the top of the crib many a time when I went to go get him up from his nap.
Well, in the past week or so he's dropped from two naps to one. And last Wednesday he turned a year and a half. We decided to bite the bullet this weekend and try to install the toddler rails - just to see what happened. At first, H was super excited and kept climbing in and out of bed. It was like he was testing it because he would pick up his blanket, throw it out of bed, get out bed, pick up his blanket, climb back into bed. Rinse and repeat. I was nervous that this new found freedom to get in and out of his bed would make nap time a nightmare but surprisingly, when I put him down - he stayed. Not a peep. It's been well over an hour and he's only moved a very little.
I guess it's official. A year and a half old, one nap, and toddler rails. I have a toddler.
Here's hoping tonight he'll stay in bed when DH puts him down for bedtime! (We still have the front portion of the crib in our room in case we need to do a quick switcharoo.)
Fingers crossed for us!
