Are all of the 6 kids from the same mother? Or do you think the "other" 3 were from another mistress?

Wow that's insane! I would be curious about them too, but I don't know if I could or would reach out to them.

I'm positive that my two siblings are my only siblings, but my cousins do have a half sibling they did not know about (I'm actually not sure if they even do now). My uncle passed away unexpectedly and it was then that I learned how he had a son somewhere to a mistress the exact same age as one of his daughters. He also has an adopted son that was born just after his death, but since he already signed the adoption papers he is listed as the adoptive father (this was with his second wife). My grandparents do not recognize either of these two children as their grandchildren, which is sad.

Okay, are you my life twin?? We both have mystery siblings, too?!!

When I was 6 years old, a young woman, about 18 yrs old, came to the front door with a baby. All I remember is my mum going crazy, putting my boots on and taking me out "for a walk" in the snow!! After about an hour, maybe, when my feet were freezing cold and I was crying to go home, my mum took us back and the lady was still there with my dad. My mum went crazy again and the lady left.

Two days later, when my mum was out at work, I asked my dad about the mystery lady. He told me that she was my sister from his previous marriage - and the baby was my niece. I also had a brother. I didn't know that he had been married before because my mum had forbidden him to ever tell me (she wanted a "perfect" family) and she had told him he was never to see his children again. She had been the "other woman" and once the divorce went through she wanted to draw a line under the past, I think. My sister had come that day to show him his grandchild (who he never saw again)....

We never spoke about it again - but I never forgot about my sister and my little baby niece and my brother who I had never seen.... their names were etched on my mind....

Years later, when I was 23, I moved into a househare and one night over too much wine I told my new housemate about my mystery brother and sister.... she recognised their names immediately - my sister ran her local pub (where she used to live 8 miles away) and my niece worked behind the bar!! A couple of weeks later I went to this pub and my mystery sister served me!! When she asked for the money, I said "You wouldn't charge your little sister for a drink would you?" and she looked right into my face and fainted!!!

Sadly, we have been unable to forge any kind of relationship - we're just too different, I think. And like Mrs Jazz's sister she is very bitter that I had a relationship with my father where she didn't (even if he did leave us when I was 12 and marry the next "other woman", not contacting me until I was 17!). Plus, my dad was unable to face up to the years he failed her as a father so, even on his death bed, he refused to let me tell her and reunite them.... I don't think she will ever forgive me for not telling her that her dad was dying....

My sister passed away when she was 21 from a car accident (I was 23) and like 6 months later, my Dad, Step-mom, hubby and I were walking back to the house from a restaurant one night and out of nowhere, super non-chalant, my dad was like "Oh btw, you have another sister from before I married your Mom". And then continued on with conversation. I completely thought he was joking!

Apparently, a GF from before my mom got pregnant, he offered to marry her, she said No, and she moved to LA. He never heard from her again, but some of his friends saw her a few years later and she had a little girl. I guess her Mom decided she didn't want anything to do with my Dad, but he had told my mom in case she ever showed up on our doorstep. He doesn't even know her name!

I called my mom and was like is there anything you want to tell me? And she was like, No, not that I can think of. "Ok so I don't have another sister living in LA?" OHHHHHHHH THAT. Maybe, who knows with your dad.

YEA. Super random and honestly I don't think we've spoken two words about it since. I tried to find a birth record with her mom's name, but it came up fruitless, and I gave up, and now can't even remember that.

wow, that is crazy! i don't think i have any secret siblings (neither of my parents travel for work and they got together pretty young) but i would definitely watch your lifetime movie!

This thread is fascinating - my family is 100% lame with no known mysterious or surprise siblings, cousins, etc., but I would definitely follow your lifetime movies - or perhaps this would be a great new Bravo series?

My grandfather had a mistress, and had one son with her. When my mom's family immigrated, it was apparently on the condition that he leave his mistress behind. He later ended up bringing her over, and had a house few miles away from their house! Fast forward to my grandfather's death, he left everything to the mistress's son, and nothing to my mom and her siblings, even though they helped out financially with his cancer treatments. Anyways, my mom's half-brother reached out to them and i think some of them continue to keep in contact with him.
