I'm SO upset. It must have fallen out last night while I was sleeping because I found the back beside the bed. I still haven't found it and I'm sick to my stomach over it. My husband gave them to me on our wedding day. We spent an hour tonight scouring the bedroom and didn't find it. I just want to cry.

Oh dear! I have total confidence that you will find it ESPECIALLY since the backing was in your bed. I think I read somewhere to turn off the lights and then use a flashlight...The diamond will shine better??

I'm so sorry! I lost my grandmother's pearls a few weeks ago, and they were not where I expected to find them. Maybe check the nooks and crannies of your bed? I've found earrings wedged between the mattress and bed rails before.

I'm sorry! Don't give up-- my mom's diamond anniversary band slipped off her finger and turned up in a couch cushion a year later. Hope you find it!

Nooooooooooooooo! That happened to me...a week after DH gave them to me. But we did find it in bed a few days later. All hope is not lost!

I've lost one of my MILs pearl studs that I wore on my wedding day and I still have no idea where it has gone. I felt so bad!

Oh no! Whenever I lose something I say a quick prayer to St. Anthony and it's never failed (I think you're Catholic too but if I'm wrong, ignore my advice @mediagirl:!)

I hope you find it soon! If you do find it, I would HIGHLY recommend taking the earrings to a jeweler and have the mounting switched to screw back mountings. My dad is a jeweler and I persuaded him to give me my first (and only) pair of diamond earrings more than a decade ago (mine are teeny tiny). He gave me screw backs and I have NEVER had to worry about losing them. Also, if they are on the bigger, more expensive side, get an appraisal and have them put under your home owner's/renter's insurance.
Also, something my dad sometimes does if he drops something small in his shop and can't find it is vacuum then literally sift through the dust. Good luck! -

How upsetting! I get mad when I lose cheapo earrings, I can only imagine what it would be like to lose something like that! I would second the vacuum, I've had luck finding things that way before!

Can you slowly and carefully unmake your bed piece by piece to check? I lost an earring in bed and it had burrowed itself beneath the mattress pad!

Maybe put a nylon on the end of your vacuum (the handheld part) and vacuum around your bad and your mattress- the earring should get stuck on the nylon on the end! Good luck!!

I haven't found it yet. I tried the flashlight trick (Thanks @rubies!) still no earring. The worst part is I washed our bedspread before I realized it was missing. Ahh!

@mediagirl: Does your washing machine have a filter that catches little things? Also, I was told to put a bit of pantyhose over the attachment end of a vacuum hose and that would catch little things.

@MaisyMay: it does. It wasn't in there. I'll try the vacuum trick, too. Or I could just put M in the room. She finds all the small things I don't see on the floor.

@mediagirl: oh, no, that sucks! I would try searching every inch of the room with a vacuum. It could have been flung across the room if it was caught in your sheets. I hope you find it!
If not, maybe you could have the other one made into a necklace or something, since it has special meaning to you.

@mediagirl: try inside the pillow case if you haven't looked there! My aunt lost her engagement ring while sleeping one night and that's where she found it!! I'm sure it will turn up!

I FOUND IT!!!!!
I stepped on something sharp in the shower this morning and knew immediately what it was. I yelled the above statement to my husband and the earrings have been put in my jewelry box until we can get screw backs. Good start to Monday!!
