@Mrs squirreld: It still doesn't feel real!!! Here is the nursery in it's before state! It was the library (I know, right? We're so poncy!!) but it became a dumping room!! DH boarded our loft floor and we've moved all the junk up there. Then we stripped the awful wallpaper (see middle pic!) then DH prepped the walls (3rd picture). He has put lining paper up, now, but I don't have a pic of that!!

@Mrs squirreld: oh my goodness, you made that??? So freaking cute!! What a wonderful idea. You have to secretly video them opening it! Good luck, appointment twin...here's to positive appointments for both of us tomorrow.

@marionberry: Still waiting to hear back from them on the swing. Oh well, if this one doesn't work out there's always others.

@Cherrybee: What a darling room. The wood floors look wonderful! Our nursery was also a library (with less shelves, though...it's where all my books ended up, so I'm going to call it that ;)). It's amazing how quickly we've outgrown our space. So lining paper means that you're putting wallpaper up again, right? DH asked me if I was planning on putting up a border around the nursery walls, and I told him I didn't really care for them. I have a feeling that that's what they did in my stepkids' rooms (if I were a betting girl, I'd bet it was probably baby Disney Winnie the Pooh). I am, however, in lust with this wallpaper:

    http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/search/20545554.jsp?cm_vc=SEARCH_RESULTS

I asked for a free swatch to be sent to me so that I can pet it and convince myself that $150 for a roll of paper is insane. (I wouldn't do the whole room, but I have this vision of papering the backs of our bookcases...). I have to stop assuming it's a girl just because I really really want it to be ;). Of course health is number 1 priority!

@Cherrybee: wow!!!! awesome! thanks for the pics! Love the wood floors.. I'm so jealous, I have to live my nursery set up dream through you guys as we'll be moving when i'm 7 months pregnant.. so I don't even know what the room we'll be using as a nursery will look like til then ( won't stop me from buying stuff though!!)
@StrawberryBee: Thanks! I saw a few ideas on pinterest but I made up the little saying and did the rest, I'm pretty happy with them...wish i could have found smaller eggs but oh well! That wallpaper is to die for! Gorgeous!

@StrawberryBee: That link just comes up as the front page. Where am I looking?

We may just paint the lining paper. That worked really well in our hall. DH fills and sands all the joints and it looks like he's completely re-plastered the room once it's painted. Ooooooor, we might paper..... I really love this one - it's designed by Quentin Blake, the illustrator who illustrated all of Roald Dahl's books....

    papaya / 10570 posts

@Mrs squirreld: I've no idea! We need to wait another 2 months and see what we're having! I've got a tin of really pretty lilac paint if it's a girl but I've no idea for a boy!!

  9. Mrs squirreld

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@Cherrybee: hmmm i see!! have you got a vibe. My DH thinks we are having a boy... and we would both love a boy first ( obviously all we really care about is a healthy baby!) but all I can think of are girls names so I think its a girl I'm pretty sure our nursery if going to be gender neutral either way as I'm super keen on having a woodlands type nursery

  10. Cherrybee

    papaya / 10570 posts

@Mrs squirreld: Oooh, that sounds nice. I thought about a "Where the Wild things Are" type of theme But it seemed really hard to achieve.

As for the gender - I'm not sure! I want a girl but I'd be happy with a boy, too (healthy baby yadda yadda). I know DH wants a boy. I was convinced it was a boy at first but of late I've really been thinking girl. We can't agree on names for either!!!

What names are you thinking?? We've got Jonah for a boy but I don't LOVE it. I like Joshua but DH ruled it out - he says he's "never met a nice Josh". For a girl - I love Larkin but DH vetoed it. I also like Lois but DH is kinda meh about it. DH likes Amber - but I know an Amber and she's just awful!! He also like Amelia, which is lovely but it's the most popular girls name in the UK right now, so I've vetoed that!

@Cherrybee: Our favourite girl names are Violet, Lila, Alice & Summer but who knows if we'll still love them in a few months... boys we only have maybes which are Saul, Kent or Odin. Its so hard.. they are going to have this name forever!

@Cherrybee: hmm, maybe the link broke. Try this? super cute paper, btw

@Mrs squirreld: It's funny, I'm pretty sure I have my boy name, but nothing if it's a girl! For me girl names are so much harder than boys.

@StrawberryBee: really? no way boys are soooo much harder! lol... actually there is heaps I love but DH is always a NO! lol

@StrawberryBee: Nope! Still the front page! Which paper is it?

@Mrs squirreld: Odin!! We have a Norse surname which means Odin's garden. :-)I love your girl names - especially Summer but that might be because this is the view from my patio doors today! I'm longing for some summer!!

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@Cherrybee: I love Odin, but we kinda stole it from a friend who found out they are having a girl so I feel waaaaay too guilty to use it but DH loves it. I am sooo jealous of your snow!!! we've been having 40+ celcius days here I'm soo over it!

@Cherrybee: we are going on holiday in march too, but we are going up north so for us it will be even hotter! lol... but atleast we'll have beaches! I really hope I won't be too sick to enjoy it!

@Mrs squirreld: When in March? You should be feeling better by the middle/end of March, I'd say....

@Cherrybee: nope the first two weeks! hahha I'll just have to suck it up!

  21. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@Mrs squirreld: @Cherrybee: I don't know why, but boy names just come easier to me. The one I like the most right now is Jeremy Robert (Robert as a middle name, to remember my grandfather). It was Aiden for a long time, until that rose in popularity. And then I secretly adored Aria for a girl, until THAT started rising too! I don't think it would go well with our last name, anyway.

I've been toying with Ella for a girl, but I don't like that it's in the top ten (or somewhere around there). I always enjoyed having an uncommon name, and that's something I'd like to continue with my daughter.

And apparently I have a lot more negative associations for girl names than I do for boys. Every girl name I look at is paired in my head with someone (either real or fictional) that I didn't care for.

@Cherrybee: on the wallpaper: weird! It's the Peony one :).

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@StrawberryBee: oh I too used to love the name aiden until it got really popular and everyone started making the rhyming names!
@Cherrybee: the links work for me- strange that they don't for u!

  24. Cherrybee

    papaya / 10570 posts

@StrawberryBee: @Mrs squirreld: It comes up with the front page of the Anthroplogie UK site and, when I look in the wallpapers, there isn't a peony one. Perhaps we can't get that over here and that's why the link doesn't work.

Yeah, I have that all the time - I like a name but I know someone with it and i just can't shift the association. The worst one for me - I love Ember for a little girl but my friend's cat's called Ember and I just can't shake the cat from my mind!!

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@Cherrybee: @StrawberryBee: the name association thing is why we aren't going to tell family the names we choose because my mum is a school teacher and she has an association for every name!!

@Cherrybee: My cat is named Ember too ;). I also know a dog named Ember.

Bad thing about being in dog agility: people who name their dogs person-names (I'm one of them, so no offense meant to those that do!) and then that's your association with the name! Quinn will forever be a border collie to me. And the younger daughter on Daria.

@Mrs squirreld: ah, that stinks :(. I felt pretty horrid last Thursday, was on the couch all day Saturday, but then strangely energetic on Sunday. Got a lot of stuff done on Sunday that hasn't been accomplished in forever! Clean bathrooms, woot. I wish my husband had the same clean threshold that I do. He doesn't 'see' clutter, and it drives me crazy.

@StrawberryBee: haha totally I made my friends not name their dog Cooper because I love it as a name turns out DH hates it so they could have named their dog that after all!!

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@Mrs squirreld: lol! I knew a dog named Cooper, too. He was actually kind of aggressive, some judges dismissed him because he was a big Australian Shepherd I think, and would run up to them and bark at them while on course. According to the owner he didn't mean it in a menacing way, but it was really disconcerting.

@StrawberryBee: Ooh, that wallpaper is lovely! We called our dogs Gavin and Madeline. I also had a Sally, previously. My BFF's cats are Joey and Molly. So many lovely people names ruined!!

@Mrs squirreld: Aaaw, that sounds like morning sickness. Hugs for you. My advice - treat it like a hangover! Eat McDonalds daily (ignore all that crap about nutrition) and sleep as much and and as frequently as you can (ignore all that crap about exercise!). Hmm, maybe that's why I gained 8lbs!!!

@Cherrybee: no way I am eating macdonalds - I'm really worried about my blood pressure going back up again! Besides the closest maccas to me is two hours away! all I've eaten today is a small tub of yoghurt and two pieces of toast.

  35. Cherrybee

    papaya / 10570 posts

@Mrs squirreld: 2 hours away!!!! This is my worst nightmare!! Never mind the gorgeous sunshine, world class education system, abundance of space making property large and affordable (compared to here!), excellent working conditions which countless British Citizens flock to year on year and availability of hot surfer dudes.... you ain't got a drive through near you??

We've got a Mac on every street corner, lady, not to mention Gregg's sausage rolls and pasties! You can take your sunshine!! Give me this and a Big Mac any day (the view from my car window on Friday!)

  36. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

    @Cherrybee: lol on the advice!

@Mrs squirreld: from experience, you need to eat something. It's a horrible cycle because not eating = not wanting to eat = feeling worse and worse. I have forced food in me when I just Did Not Want It because I knew I wouldn't feel better until I did. I've been craving fruit and veggies like crazy, but unfortunately those don't stick with me. Try for protein -- eggs, maybe? or carbs. For me soup felt good. I can't eat roast chicken now (repulsed by it), but I can eat chicken noodle soup, so I would make up a big pot and just eat it every few hours.

@marionberry: @Mrs squirreld: @Cherrybee: We got the snugabunny swing!! woohoo!

Poor DH is now having an allergic reaction though, because the sellers have a cat (we have two cats, but as long as he doesn't touch them he's fine). So the cat must have been in contact with the box at some point. Or is just one that has more dander. Whoops.

God help me if our kid is allergic. Three dogs and two cats and I just cannot give them away, they're my babies too.

First off, let me say wow, I get to work this morning and you guys have gone pages while I slept, lol.

@strawberrybee: Yay on the swing! And Ella is one of our baby girl names. It's actually DH's favorite. Our girls are Ella, Avery and Hadley. Our boy names are Jackson, Deacon, Camden and Hudson...although we're not as sure on boy names.

@cherrybee: Loved your comment on the name Amber..cause that's my name haha. So at least you know a good one too.

@mrssquirreld: I love your way of telling people, You are oh so creative. You need your own etsy shop!

We haven't done anything with rooms and such yet because we're looking to buy a house in about 2-3 months, but then I will be spending my days designing it. I love interior design!

@StrawberryBee: That's one of my biggest fears! I feel that when we adopted our dogs we made a commitment to them for their whole lives. Both DH and I are very allergic to cats - what if our LO is allergic to our dogs?? I may have to rehome the child!!! First in ladt out!! Only kidding!

We told DH's parents yesterday too - they were so excited and surprised We totally scored too! My MIL had just bought a car seat not too long ago to have in her car when she picks up the grandkids most weeks but now they are moving away they have no need for it and the gave it to us!! SO so grateful for that big expense to be gone. It's in perfect condition and super clean and actually matches our car interior quite perfectly!!
