I think there is something in the water!!!

@Mrs squirreld: 6 days?!! That's so exciting!! It's going to be amazing when you get there and you can spend the next few weeks really making it feel like home. Let us know how the move goes - a three day drive sounds a bit tiring at this stage so take lots of water and snacks with you.

Here are some nursery pics. The photos are terrible!!

@Cherrybee: oh the light and the pastels and the prints!!! Oh so pretty! I love it! Just beautiful! I think mine is going to look like a cave compared to yours... a woodland cave, but a cave....boys like that though right?
Everyone seems really worried about this car trip ( lots of people tried to convince me to fly but I wasn't going to spend 1-2 weeks without DH!) The car is actually one of the places I'm comfortable.... Aslong as I don't go into labour as I'll be in the middle of nowhere! Drinks and snacks will be a plenty aswell as some good girly movies to watch whilst DH drives! hehehehe

@Mrs squirreld: I love a good road trip!! It's a shame my DH hates it - he is a terrible passenger but hates driving! I can't even begin to imagine a 3 day car journey right now, though, especially in this heatwave we are having over here (which would be like one of your winters!) but I guess your cars are better equipped to deal with hot weather, with decent air-con etc. It's been 30c here (86f) and we're really not coping!!

Woodland cave sounds wonderful!!! Have you already bought everything you need to set the nursery up?

  4. Mrs squirreld

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@Cherrybee: hahaha yeah where I'm moving the winters really are 30c!! but after the 0-10c I'm having where we live at the moment I'm looking forward to defrosting....will freak out when summer comes though and its 40-50c and doesn't go below 30c at night!!! eeeek!
We totally have everything we need to set up, except the tree decal for the wall which is in the post... and a few minor bits and pieces of art that I wanted to wait until it was all coming together to see, its hard when you don't know the space etc.. I worry it will look too busy.

@Mrs squirreld: You can play it be ear when you set it up. You don't have to use everything if it looks too busy. I suspect it will look lovely though! 0-10c is like most of the year here. I hate the cold!!! I'd love to live somewhere scorching hot! Even heavily pregnant I'm getting out in the sun as much as possible! This picture is from the weekend before last at a music festival! It's just the night that is hard to cope with - we don't have air con in our homes here and our bedroom has been 28c at night, even with two fans on. Not good.

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@Cherrybee: awwww you look gorgeous!!!! Yeah heat at night while you are trying to sleep isn't fun. Our new house has aircon in every bedroom and ceiling fans thankgoodness ( although I probably won't say that when I get our first electricity bill.. the average for this location is $AUD1500 for 2 months!!!!!!!!!!!)

  7. Cherrybee

    papaya / 10570 posts

@Mrs squirreld: GASP!!!! That's outrageous!! Mind, air con isn't cheap to run I guess. It'll be worth it for the gorgeous weather and beautiful scenery.... you'll be by the beach, right?

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@Cherrybee: this location is notoriously bad for high bills lol... lucky we have the high income to match it! Will be 18kms from the beach, but tons of 4WD, camping, fishing, swimming spots close by! Can't wait to explore when bub is a bit older

@Mrs squirreld: I'm soooo jealous (in a happy for you kind of way, of course!). I live in the only county in the UK that doesn't have a coast. One day we will live by the sea... but the place we really want to move to in North Yorkshire has very high levels of unemployment and it doesn't seem fair to bring kids up there, even if we could get jobs there ourselves. We will see, difficult economic times never last forever, do they?

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@Cherrybee: Don't let the sunshine and ocean fool you... there is a reason the pay is high here... it's to try and attract people to the town... it has a terribly high crime rate ( some companies won't even insure you), 4 months of the year are cyclone season and its HOT HOT HOT all year round. In saying that we are in a safe neighbourhood, I'm married to a policeman and we won't be staying here for more than 4 years! lol It will be an adventure and the $$ will set us up for the future so it's totally worth it while our kid/s aren't school age. Where I live now ( for the next week) it's inland so I know what you mean about missing the ocean!! You just have to do what is best in the now... and hopefully things will get better for the future!

@Mrs squirreld: I didn't realise you had crime in Australia?!! lol. Not sure I'd enjoy cyclone season much to be fair!! Wishing you all the very best with your move, post pics when you get to your new house - and especially of your nursery!!!

I feel like it was literally just weeks ago when i was stalking your POAS saga - crazy! I cannot wait to see your little baby and your nursery is beautiful, I love how light & airy it is and cozy. Good luck to you, I am positive everything will go smoothly!

@Mrs squirreld: honestly I didn't even know there was crime in Australia either haha! Good luck with your move and i can't wait to see pictures!

@Cherrybee: just trying to enjoy the summer. It's been a bit hectic since we've been going through some house renovation projects but its nearing the end so I feel much less stressed. I still can't believe you have a baby!! I know things have been a bit rough for you but I hope it's smooth sailing from here on put for you.

@chibee: Hello! Miss hearing from you! I can't wait for you to start trying again so we can all cheer you on!

@cherrybee: I've read all of your breastfeeding and delivery stories. I'm glad that now you can just move on and start enjoying this time with baby instead of stressing. I think there's always this fear that you're letting your baby down if you formula feed and we must all remember that it's what the majority of us grew up on and we all turned out just great! You should share some updated pics of your little one!

@Mrs squirreld: We put down wood-look tiles everywhere! I love it - it has the grains and texture of hand scraped hardwood floors. Here is a picture of my hallway before, during and after!

@chibee: WOW!!! That looks gorgeous! Woodgrain grain tiles! Amazing! What a difference it makes and no doubt easier to maintain!!

@Mrs squirreld: unfortunately we had no choice as our dogs DESTROYED the carpet!! This is a lifesaver, so easy to keep clean! i vow to NEVER have carpet again. I never liked carpet and that was the only reservation i had about buying our house!

  27. Mrs squirreld

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@chibee: haha you'd like our new house then.. there isn't a single piece of carpet to be seen!! We've bought lots of rugs because we just aren't used to it and it's killing our feet! But I do love the cleaning aspect!!

@chibee: Love your new hallway! We have all wood downstairs but I wish we also had it in the hallway upstairs. Not much new with me, just getting prepped for this baby along with @mrssquirreld. I can't believe we're both little more than 6 weeks away from our little boys' births!

@chibee: I LOVE wood look tiles. I want to do out first floor in it. Did you install yourselves?

Up with contractions, ugh. Currently sitting in the glider hoping my water doesn't break, on it because I simply cannot lie down any more.

@StrawberryBee: EEEEEEEkkk How exciting!!! How closer are they now???

  31. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@Mrs squirreld: that's the annoying part, it keeps changing! Nothing is consistent but I'm getting back labor so in some pretty real pain right now. Right now they're 14 min apart and 40 seconds long. An hour ago they were 7 min apart and 1min long. I just got woken out of a snooze by a sudden intense grip on my lower spine.

  32. Mrs squirreld

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@StrawberryBee: oh how annoying!! Have you tried a hot shower to speed things up? Try and rest and focus on something relaxing...keep your jaw relaxed too!

@StrawberryBee: I had back labor, and found a lot of comfort sitting on the toilet, hunched over. Or on your hands and knees with your butt up...it should take some of the pressure off of your back. If you're looking get things moving you might consider nipple stimulation...I tested out my breast pump. It's a generally accepted method of natural induction, but my understanding is that it really only works if your body is ready/already in early labor, which is sounds like you are.

    Good luck!

  34. chibee

    pear / 1974 posts

@StrawberryBee: no way! We had someone do it for us haha! Kind of cost us a fortune but i haaaaated my carpet so so much so i think it was definitely worth it. And omg contractions!! How are you feeling today???

You guys, what a freakin day I am having today. Wtf! I'm so antsy at work!!

  35. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@Mrs squirreld: every time I get up contractions seem to slow.

@FutureMrsMcK: thanks! I've tried every position I can think of and no relief :(.

So, I had contractions all night at 11min apart, and now it's more like 20. Sigh. Really hope it's doing something and I'm at least dilating. Ow.

@chibee: omg I just saw your other post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Huge hugs!!!

  36. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@StrawberryBee: Sounds like this is just some really crazy false labor. However, the nurse at our childbirth class said every contraction helps get you closer to your baby, so I'm sure if nothing else, you're dilating more and the more you dilate, the easy your active labor will be. Can't wait to meet your little one!

@chibee: I am SO SO SO excited for you! You have got to be jumping up and down constantly right now! I know I would be.

  37. chibee

@marionberry: thank you I am still in disbelief! Like I need to go home ASAP and do a digital to see the words you know? I can't even believe this is happening!

@Cherrybee: responding to you here - I told dh immediately well I first told him I was late and he was like take a test right now and I was at work! But like a freak I had a few wondfos stashed at work so I took it and called him. We are both a little nervous but starting to get really excited! I'm the last of us to join in on the pregnancy train!!

@StrawberryBee: Oh my word!! You're having contractions!! So exciting!! I'm sorry you're having back labour.... I will be thinking of you!!!!

@chibee: Yaaaaay!!!! Ahh, I'm just so happy for you! FINALLY!!! I bet you are really struggling to concentrate at work now!!
