I just pulled out 1k from the bank, and went to the pharmacy next door to buy some claritin for mr. bee. As I was walking out of the pharmacy, I put my wallet into my coat pocket. Literally three seconds later, I put my hand in my coat and my wallet wasn't there. So I immediately turned around and saw a man running away at top speed, and turn around the corner. He must have grabbed it as I was busy walking out of the store pushing a stroller.

I called the police to file a police report since anything above $500 is supposed to be a felony. They came after an hour acting very annoyed, and didn't want to take the report. When they asked me how much was in the wallet, I told them $1000, and the officer responded with, "That's it?" They refused to file my wallet as stolen and told me it was lost because I *actually* didn't see the man running away steal my wallet or feel him take it, and that I was just assuming. I asked if they were going to do anything, as the bank probably had video footage, and they said no. All they would do is file the form I filled out as lost property.

I've heard of the police refusing to file such incidents as stolen property because it boosts crime stats. Having to deal with the police was even more infuriating than losing the money in the first place!

Luckily we have renter's insurance so I think it's covered, but I still had to cancel all my cards and it had my driver's license with my maiden name on it, which I needed since I haven't changed all my names on my account yet (and I can't get another one).

Friday the 13th had an early start for me!!
