Any ideas for me? I'm not crazy swollen but I'm only 31 weeks and it's a hot week here. My hands and feet are so uncomfortable. I'm trying to stay hydrated. My 2.5 year old is pissed I won't take her to the playground but I'm going to turn into the Michelin man!

@Cole: I would soak my feet in the baby pool while H played and also take her to places like CFA that had indoor playplaces. We would also go to the splash pad. I also kept a cup of ice water with me at all times and tried to dress in as little as possible while being decent. Summer pregnancies are the worst.

@Cole: I know it's exactly the opposite of what people say to do--but I found that resting and elevating legs did nothing for my swollen feet and legs. I also tried the compression stockings.
The only thing that worked was putting on real shoes (like sneakers) and working out until I was pretty sweaty--all the extra water would just sweat out and my feet would be almost back to normal afterward. That trick helped me both pregnancies.

Nightly Epsom salt baths helped me keep comfortable in the third trimester. Also, going swimming also got rid of my swelling.

@Cole: OMG I feel you i'm only 28 weeks and it's cankle town here! I soaked my feet in a kiddie pool yesterday but it didn't really help. I'm going to see if my midwife has any tips at my appointment today.

I had to limit my salt intake and really drink a lot of water to notice any difference. Elevation and Epsom salt soaks did nothing for me.

I'm not terribly swollen yet this pregnancy (being off my feet probably helps) but I was extremely swollen by 29 weeks last pregnancy. I agree with @Shantuck: that Epsom salt baths really help with the discomfort, though I don't think they really decreased the swelling itself (at least not visually). Compression stockings helped a little but they were so uncomfortable if your swelling is chronic and not just from being on your feet.

Thanks everyone! Swimming is on the agenda for this afternoon and I may try and squeeze an Epsom salt bath in before nap (the moments where I get to write that makes this sah gig very worth it!) I'm going to keep guzzling water and watch the salt, I suspect that salt is likely the culprit, I had fast food yesterday which is not the norm and I've been craving things like pretzels and popcorn...

Swimming, drinking water, exercise, Epsom baths, elevating your legs, etc. Nothing worked last time for me except giving birth!
That said, I'm not swollen this time yet, but I am proactively doing all these things for when the swelling shows up. But I'm honestly just expecting to suffer until the birth!
