My husband and I have lived in our small neighborhood for 7 years, and we are well-known to a lot of people because we go on nightly walks with our dogs, and now our LO. There is one older couple down the street that always stopped to speak with us.
Tonight, we stopped to say hello to the wife, and she broke down in tears and told us her husband died of a heart attack last week at home, and she found him Her kids live an hour away and can only imagine she's lonely. We spoke to her about helping with her yard and her dogs and to call us anytime, but I feel so very sad for her and want to help somehow.
It tends to make me uneasy to intrude into people's personal space because I"m a private person, but any ideas on how to help her besides the yard? Maybe a sympathy card to start?
