Were you surprised by IF? Not really. I was surprised by how long it has taken, but I expected some problems because I knew I have pcos. I thought a few extra months max.
Where do you fit in your family? I guess I'm the oldest. I had an infant sister who dies when I was five and then I was an only child until I was 18 when my brother was born, and then my youngest brother was born the next year. I still say I was raised an only child, because technically I was.
Favorite holiday: Thanksgiving. Hands down. I love the food.
Saddest moment: my little guy isn't feeling well and it's breaking my heart.
Happiest moment: I finally got back to the gym and it felt great to get moving again.

Were your surprised by IF or were you expecting to have some issues? I think I was expecting it. I had two pelvic infections a few years ago but even before that I had been in a serious relationship for 5 years and we weren't very careful (stupid) and never had any scares.
Where do you fit in your family (oldest, youngest, only)? I'm the oldest.
Which holiday is your favorite? Christmas, family, food, and presents, amazing!
What was your saddest moment in the past week? Thought I had a positive test yesterday but turns out my batch of IC tests are faulty. They are now in the trash.
What was your happiest moment in the past week? I thought I was pregnant for about 5 minutes, that was amazing.

Were your surprised by IF or were you expecting to have some issues? Not super surprised, but it still came as a shock if that makes sense? You never think this will happen to you.

What was your saddest moment in the past week?
C is such a daddys girl & it's been really hard on her that he is working nights this week. She doesn't adapt to change well. It makes me sad to see her so upset at bedtime!
What was your happiest moment in the past week?
Having my husband home this week. We're getting lots more time together with him working nights and being home during the day.
I started Clomid. I've already cried (happy tears) twice. I forgot how hard the Clomid hits me!

Were your surprised by IF or were you expecting to have some issues? I had no reason to think we'd have trouble, but I just had this gut feeling that it wouldn't come easy, even years before TTC. I still don't think I thought I'd get to the point of IVF though.
Where do you fit in your family (oldest, youngest, only)? Oldest of two, and DH is oldest of four.
Which holiday is your favorite? Christmas! We have a good routine so we get to visit everyone.
What was your saddest moment in the past week? Getting a BFN on Wednesday (with my LAST HPT, on 11dpiui, in the evening... I'm pretty sure I'm out, but I'm mad at myself for wasting my last test so early).
What was your happiest moment in the past week? BIL's wedding! It was great to see DH's whole family.
I have my beta tomorrow, then I start IUI #4 with Femara this time. DH and I are still debating whether we'll do a fifth IUI or take a month off before we start IVF. We had our RE follow up on Monday and it made me very excited to get going with IVF, but it made DH think that the IUIs are pointless. I want to at least give Femara a try.

-I was completely surprised. Sometimes I still can't believe it.
Where do you fit in your family (oldest, youngest, only)?
-I'm the oldest. I have three younger brothers and a younger sister.
Which holiday is your favorite?
-Christmas! The whole season just makes me so happy.
What was your saddest moment in the past week?
-I had a cold over the weekend.

-There has been several really good moments this week. Working on a project for DH's cousin's wedding has been the best though. It reminds me of how happy and excited I was in the days before our wedding.
I should be back on BCP any day now in preparation for my FET cycle. It's been a month since my BFN from the fresh cycle. I needed some time to move on and some time to not worry about medications and appointments. It's been nice to not have to do anything for awhile. I'm so ready to get started again now!

Totally surprised. I say I'm a second generation "oops" baby, and as far as I know only 1 woman in my family had any issues.
Where do you fit in your family (oldest, youngest, only)?
Youngest both in my family and my cousin generation.
Which holiday is your favorite?
Maybe Thanksgiving? Lots of time with family and friends, plus some good food. Hoping being GF doesn't make it sad for me this year.
What was your saddest moment in the past week?
The frustration of BFNs. I've felt worse than I have when I actually was pregnant, so I thought it was for sure happening. (Pretty sure AF is coming today). I'm OK with it not working this month, I'm just frustrated that I'm still getting major symptoms and am afraid I'll see signs of another m/c like I did last month. Going to make an appointment with the ND for early next week.
What was your happiest moment in the past week?
I designed a funny product for Hanukkah and within a day of posting it on Etsy I got contacted by a major newspaper Still have only sold 4 (the article isn't out yet), but we'll see how it goes!

-- Yes and no. With my DH's health, I thought we would have some trouble but no idea it would take this long.

--Turning 30. But by the end of the day, I felt so much better.

--Last night, when we figured out that we will be putting job hunting on hold and TTC with IVF as a possibility! Maybe I'll be pregnant before I turn 31!

Which holiday is your favorite? Christmas! But I really do love all holidays
What was your saddest moment in the past week? DH's cousin's wife's water broke at 23 weeks and they had to take the baby out. He's a fighter though and somewhat stable at the moment.
What was your happiest moment in the past week? Um....well, I'm pregnant! I'm not really too too excited though. (Isn't that sad?) But still trying to think positively. I feel relieved and surprised that we were successful on our first round of injectables. I had betas done Tuesday and today, with a doubling time of 32.58 hours, which I learned is a good thing! And it's our 3rd anniversary tonight so we're going out to dinner. Yay.

Were your surprised by IF or were you expecting to have some issues? I was totally surprised. I've always been regular and we both are pretty healthy. Neither of our parents had issues so we thought it wouldn't be a problem.

Which holiday is your favorite? Christmas. I love everything about it! I decorate the house right after Thanksgiving!!!
What was your saddest moment in the past week? I really didn't have one. I guess if anything, DH and I started talking about how we are spending the holidays and we had a disagreement about it. It's a big long story, but he has a pretty complicated family and we typically see everyone on Christmas/Christmas Eve which involves a ton of driving around. I want to start minimizing that. We still have a lot to work out on this issue.
What was your happiest moment in the past week? When I got a positive OPK on Monday night!!!! That means that we finally got to schedule the FET!!! I am so looking forward to getting this whole FET going!!!
@Mrs.Someone: I've been thinking about the GF Thanksgiving. There is barely anything I can eat since I am GF and Dairy free. I went to whole foods the other day and found a GF stuffing mix that I am going to try. DH and I are also starting to test out some recipes so that we can bring something that I can eat and that I actually want to eat.
@bluestriped bee: Welcome back to the TTC world!!! It is so exciting that you have made the decision to try again and even go as far as IVF. I know how hard that decision is! I really hope you get a BFP soon!

@justdarling: I found the best GF website lately, she has a ton of great recipes: http://glutenfreeonashoestring.com/. I'm just concerned about not being able to eat what other people bring, and/or not wanting to grill everyone about what is in what. I always bring dessert though, so there is at least one thing I'll be able to eat!
And more to add for me... I'm having lunch with my close friend who I suspect is pregnant. Psyching myself up for the news I expect: her due a couple weeks after my last due date. Hoping I can get it out now so I can be happy for her when I see her.
I'm feeling really left out in my group of friends... Only 2 of us left childless (the other couple isn't trying I think). Lately I've been in conversations with the guys because I just can't handle the baby/pregnancy talk (they don't all know). I'm looking forward to catching up with my friend though, its been a while because of vacations.

Were you surprised by IF or were you expecting to have some issues? I had an inkling after I stopped taking bcp and my cycles were irregular (they weren't before). I didn't get my actual diagnosis of PCOS until last November (almost 3 years later)

Which holiday is your favorite? Probably Thanksgiving - we host both sides of the family at our house and my mom makes all of the food, so I don't have to travel or cook. Win win!
What was your saddest moment in the past week? Realizing we're going to have tight finances and feeling really guilty because ...
What was your happiest moment in the past week? I quit my job this week. It was a really negative work environment, and recent events made it even worse. I'm in the process of applying for new jobs, and I have a couple of leads ... hopefully something pans out quickly!
Updates: nothing really - hubs goes in to see the new RE for his SA next week, I can't remember what cd I'm in without checking my app (today is cd25). I'm looking forward to getting our new treatment plan soon.

@Mrs.Someone: Thanks for the website. I actually found a recipe that I really want to try!! I have the same concern about not being able to eat what other people bring. How I plan to handle this is to do a little bit of research before hand. Figure out what typical dishes are going to be there (this is pretty easy since it's at my MIL's and I can ask her what she plans to make) and then look up similar recipes to figure out if there is gluten or dairy in them. That way I know before I get there what dishes I need to stay away from. I don't want to grill the cook at the dinner table. I try to be as good as I can with my diet, but I also don't beat myself up if I inadvertently eat something with gluten.
I am sorry that you are feeling left out with your friends. I have a very similar problem and probably haven't been dealing with it in the best way. I haven't been as social recently. Hanging out with the guys sounds like a great way to still be social but not have to hear all the pregnancy talk. Big Hugs to you and good luck with your lunch with your friend.

--Yes and no. None of my sisters have had difficulty getting pregnant, so there was hope I would be like them. My mom, however, took about 5 years to get pregnant, and we are very similar.
Where do you fit in your family (oldest, youngest, only)?
--I'm third out of four--does that make me the middle(ish) child?
Which holiday is your favorite?
--It's Christmas, thanks to my husband. He loves it and his enthusiasm is contagious.
What was your saddest moment in the past week?
--No real sad moments, so I'm grateful for that. I've just been feeling blah about TTC.
What was your happiest moment in the past week?
--It feels like fall here and is just gorgeous. I love this time of year.
Update: This is round 3 of Femara for me, but it's really being counted as my first since my lining was too thin the last two times. I have an appointment next week to discuss why I'm sometimes having these spikes and drops w/my blood sugar, and hope to get a good plan in place to level things out.

Also, I just wanted to confirm that I'm a jerk! Turns out my friend had a loss last week 
She seems to be handling it pretty well. I'm now glad that I've been honest with her so she has me to talk to if she needs to. But yea, I feel lame for all my jealous feelings 
I was genuinely happy for her though (when I thought it was good).

Were your surprised by IF or were you expecting to have some issues? Surprised. And I continue to be surprised, with every new treatment we have to move on to, with every bfn, month after month. Either I'm eternally optimistic or just really, really stupid.

What was your happiest moment in the past week? Discovering a local foundation that helps couples in my city with the cost of IVF. I totally cried reading the website; it's just so NICE.
I go in tomorrow morning for my follie check and will do IUI #2 sometime next week I am guessing.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: The loss was at 6 weeks, but she found at during an ultrasound at 12 The kicker is, she tried to get an ultrasound at 8w but the midwife "ran out of time". I hate that our "club" of friends who have had them has now risen!

@Mrs.Someone: I am so sorry about your friend. That is just horrible. You are not a jerk! You were doing what you had to do to protect your emotions. No one can fault you for that! At least your friend has someone that she can talk to about all of this who understands, and you do too. IF is a very lonely existence.

Were your surprised by IF or were you expecting to have some issues? For a long time I felt that we (I) would have issues. I always had regular cycles but there were long periods of time where I didn't use HBC in long-term relationships and I never had any kind of scare. I am still surprised by the fact that we have double IF (both DH and I)...
Where do you fit in your family (oldest, youngest, only)? Oldest, I am a first born all the way
Which holiday is your favorite? Christmas! I wish it lasted longer and that we weren't renting so that I could have a real tree and decorate outside instead of just our living room!
What was your saddest moment in the past week? CD1, I don't know why this cycle was so much worse than others but I was absolutely shattered on CD1. I had convinced myself that that cycle was the one, had a big sob-fest with DH and my ND
What was your happiest moment in the past week? Realizing that some things in my life are really clicking at the moment. I am doing very well at work, making an effort to "lean in" and it is being recognized. Also this week I have finally started to feel good about the way I look again.... it has been a long time since I felt that way
No real updates as we are not doing any treatment at the moment aside from the ND. I have a referral in for another RE clinic for a second opinion but I don't expect to have an appointment until early next year

What was your saddest moment in the past week?
Probably today. We had our IUI this morning and even though DH's count was much better than it needed to be, it was the lowest so far for an IUI and the last two didn't work. I know I am not being rational because the number really was fine, but I just felt like if it didn't work before and his count was much higher, that it definitely isn't going to work this time. I am also a little bit emotional from the clomid.

Last week DH and I took a mini vacation to go see our very good friends in MD. I had a lot of happy moments down there.

update: after our first iui (2 back to back days using injectables and trigger) my RE kept talking about how positive everything looked and mentioning the possibility of multiples so many times that i almost felt like it was a sure thing and we got our bfn yesterday. super hard day and still sorta in shock and sad about everything. but i know we'll just have to move forward and try again this next cycle.
it's been super hard with work too. i feel like i'm taking so much time off each cycle for appointments, etc. and everything at work just seems so trivial compared to this.
how do others deal with balancing work and ttc?

@littleredhairedgrl: so sorry about your BFN, I just got a BFN today as well, after our 3rd IUI. As for balancing work and TTC, I've been lucky that my RE office is on the way to work (sort of) and they start monitoring appointments early, so I can go before work and still get here on time. Then I just have to come up with one excuse a month for IUI day, since those start at 9:20. Emotionally though it's harder not to just think about it all day. I've found that I have to throw myself into work, get really busy so that I don't have time to sit around and think about what I could have done differently, etc. But it's not easy. Hugs

@littleredhairedgrl: I am so sorry to hear! I too feel the struggle w/ work and IUI, I am a teacher and well it is not that easy to just well take off a day or 2 w/ 24hr notice! Does your boss/supervisor know what you are doing?? I found that once I told mine I felt WAY better!!!!! Good Luck!
