*I'm handing out candy by myself. Our dog does not like people knocking on our door, so I'm taking this as a training opportunity.
*I was Carrie one year in college, complete with fake blood and Goodwill prom dress. Not to toot my own horn, but it was impressive! People chanted "Carrie, Carrie," at the party.
*Updates: I go tomorrow to get coached on injectables. Whoah!

Hi! I've been posting here and there on the IVF Thread, but this is my first IF Check-in! I'm sitting here with the TV off so I can hear the door for trick-or-treaters, so I figure this is a good time-passer.
* Just passing out candy. DH is working a little late so I'm manning the candy bowl. Haven't had one piece yet (pat on back)!
*We didn't really celebrate Halloween until I was older (maybe 10?) so there weren't a lot of costumes. My most memorable costume was Peter Pan. My mom dyed one of my dad's white t-shirts and a pair of white leggings green. Then she cut the t-shirt into zigzags at the hem and belted it. Voila, peter pan!
*Well 2 Thursdays ago we had our first RE appointment to start the road to IVF. It was super informative, and even DH who's initial instinct is to dislike all doctors likes this RE. He finally gave us some odds that other doctors and counselors wouldn't.
This week I had my CD 2 blood drawn and DH gave his (ahem) specimen for analysis. Next Friday I have my ultrasound with the saline...hysterosonogram or something? I forget what its called. No HSG since I can get pregnant, they aren't worried about my tubes.
So, step by step we're getting there. I'm guessing from what the RE has said and what I've read that we'll do the retrieval in December and transfer in January (since we have to do the PGD, they'll take the cells for testing on day 5 and freeze for the next cycle). But he said that we'd start talking about timing and dates after this first round of tests, so who knows.
Its starting to feel real, which makes me excited and sad all at the same time!
Hope you're all well and looking forward to your updates!

@Happygal: that's exciting! I hope it goes well. I'm sure it will be overwhelming...so breathe. thanks again for starting this. For some reason I can't keep track of days anymore.
@SweetiePie: fingers crossed!! I'm so glad you both like the re. That's so important. I can't wait for updates!
Nothing new here. We don't do anything for Halloween. I can't decide if we don't celebrate it or if we're lazy.
One year I dressed as a baked potato and carried a tequila bottle so Iwas technically a "loaded baked potato". That's as epic as it gets. Maybe I should specify that I was an adult when this happened.

Happy Halloween? Are you celebrating?
Nah, decided to be lazy this year. We have never gotten a ton of kids, and I hate constantly getting up.
What has been your best/favorite costume?
I was never very creative with costumes, I only ever cared about the candy and walking around with friends. But I saw this awesomeness today (see below)
Updates?
Nothing too exciting. I'm 5dpo today and doing better on the FODMAP diet. I did have an issue earlier this week with my LP herbs (ingredients that were no-nos on the diet), so I just picked up a new formula from the ND today.

* Happy Halloween? Are you celebrating?
Yep, we had a party at work, then handed out candy.
*What has been your best/favorite costume?
My costume this year was amazing. I was a Hogwarts student, and I went so far as to research skirt style/color so it matched really well to the movies/books.

Currently 5 dpo. Feeling awesomely positive about this month, the Circle and Bloom meditation are really helping me be in a better mindset.

@Happygal: good luck with the injectibles!!
@SweetiePie: so glad you both like the RE. I'll be sending good thoughts your way!
@FaithFertility: Ahhh good luck tomorrow!!
@MrsTal: fingers crossed this is your month!
We celebrate Halloween! Chloe got dressed up & I took her to a few houses. It's pouring down rain so we called it quits & snuggled inside.
I'm 8DPO and got four positives yesterday, after testing out my trigger on Monday & Tueaday. I was pretty sure I am pregnant but I'm really second guessing everything. I'm trying to hold out until Saturday/Sunday.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I'm hoping for luck for you too.......!!!!!!!!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: This is really promising!! Are you testing at all today/tomorrow to see if it gets darker?
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@spaniellove: I had a negative wondfo this morning that turned positive outside the testing window. My FRER was positive. A second wondfo was positive this afternoon.
So confusing! I bought two more FRER & will use those Sunday/Monday.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I've never worried about the 5 minutes or whatever, as long as you're not talking about it turning positive 2 hours later. Those Wondfos seem to take their sweet time. The color it starts drying to has generally been accurate for me unless it was an entire bad batch!
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@spaniellove: how do you know if its a bad batch? I'm worried that my negatives on Monday/Tuesday should hve been positive. In other words, I'm worried the trigger isn't out of my system.
Seriously considering having my husband take a wondfo test to see what happens!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: There are a lot of stories about them online, but there are batches out there where every test will give you a faint evap line even if you have no HCG in your system. The only way I can think of that you could have gotten a false negative Monday/Tuesday with tons of HCG and have this still be trigger would be if your urine was insanely diluted, like you were peeing water, but even then you'd have something to pick up...

* Happy Halloween? Are you celebrating?
Nope. Not much of a Halloween fan, and Trick or Treating was last Saturday in our town.
*What has been your best/favorite costume?
I can't even think of one - I really don't do Halloween.
*Updates?
Today is CD14, which means pretty much nothing for us. Just waiting for the next cycle to try IUI. I'm thinking about buying a program from Circle + Bloom, not sure if I should buy the IUI/IVF one or the PCOS one ...
@SweetiePie: welcome to the IF check in! Good luck with your procedure!
@Happygal: injectables, how fun! (not). Good luck!
@FaithFertility: crossing fingers that your IUIs go well!
@MrsTal: yay for feeling positive! Sending good vibes.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: good luck! A positive FRER sounds pretty promising - crossing fingers for you.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: so hopeful for you! I'll be watching for updates.
@Sweetiepie: did you stay strong and not eat the candy? I had two sweet and sour jelly things and one little chocolate Krackel. That is exciting about your movement forward for IVF! December will be here before you know it.
@Mrs. Polish: "I can't decide if we don't celebrate it or if we're lazy." Ha! That's funny. And your loaded baked potato costume is awesome. That should be a repeat.
@Mrs.Someone: that is an awesome outfit. My favorites for little ones has been Frida Kahlo and the Dalai Lama. Your diet sounds confusing and I'm so impressed your sticking to it! How long will you do it for?
@faithfertility: So have you decided NOT to try to keep your IUI a secret from your family? How did the trigger shot go? Why were you a mess on injectables? Ahhhh---so many questions!!
@mrsTal: share a picture! That sounds like an awesome costume. I'm so glad you're feeling positive about things.

@Happygal: hahahahah well no....lol.my mom had to.give me the trigger last night since DH was working soooo she knows...lol bit my sisters and such know its happening but not exact times and dates soooo yes and no
I was on gonal f in July and I HATE needles.....every night was a 20min fight with DH as he would try to do it....but the injectables themsleves were fine I felt no side effects except my body went nuts on them and I had to cancel my IUI due to having 11-14 eggs...EEKKKK!
pomelo / 5228 posts
@Happygal: Yep, it is confusing, but I see it as my way to baby somewhat Elimination is a month, then I can start adding each of the food groups in one by one to see if I react.

@Just_ju: do you know why your town did Halloween early? I think I dislike the "pretty much nothing" phase worse than the TWW. Do you have an idea as to when you're next IUI will be?
cherry / 195 posts
@Happygal: I have no idea why our town did Halloween early - they do the big 4th of July celebration on the 3rd, Christmas parade the first weekend in December ... We're just a weird small town :). I'm not 100% sure when the iui will be - my guess is early December.

IUI update: Went well but DH numbers were lower than last time 2 million they were 10 million and above last time...nurse said its ok for IUI and numbers jump up all the time, we go back tomorrow for IUI #2 so I'm making DH relax tonight and get his A game.on tomorrow!

@SweetiePie: what did the RE say about odds and stuff? I'm curious because I feel like the genetic counselor didn't get very specific with you.

@Mrs.Someone: after getting these chocolates and thinking about how kind everyone I spoke to was on the phone, I looked up the pharmacy online. Turns out it was started by a couple who dealt with infertility themselves, so you're totally right that they get it! How are you feeling half way through the TWW?
We were originally going to hold off until December, but obviously ditched that plan. I'm a little nervous about it all!
@FaithFertility: let us know how the second IUI went today!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: any updates today?
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Happygal: Awww love the "kisses" how special..
IUI#2 went great today DH was above 15mil and well I flipped oit yesterday when I saw the box check for 2-5 mil but nurse confirmed today his numbers were about 4 mil yesterday. .. who knows why soooo..not too bad!
On a quick side note there was another couole doing IUI today to, I know because you get a yellow wrist band...her husband had a guitar?!?!?! He saranades her during the IUI different, but hey whatever works! :)))

@Mrs. Polish: @FaithFertility: @Mrs. Jump Rope: @just_ju: Thanks for the welcomes and well wishes, ladies!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: FX for you! xoxo That has to be so nerve wracking!
@Happygal: I did ok! I didn't have any candy until trick-or-treating hours were over. Since then I've indulged in the leftovers Good luck with the injectables! I'm nervous about that (I'm assuming I'll have to too).
@Mrs. Jacks: Hi! xoxo Well he said that our chance of conceiving a healthy baby is about 5%. Which is a lot lower than I was expecting. But I know he's probably biased and probably predisposed to give us the worst odds.
He also said that they only expect 10% of my eggs to be "normal". So if they are able to retrieve 20 eggs (which he made it sound is his goal) then on average we'll have 2-ish good ones. But he said that a lot of it is luck - he prepared us to have no good ones at all the first round or two.
Its not the news I was hoping for (numbers wise) but at least now I know what to expect.
And again, I know he's biased, but he said that once we find a good egg/embryo, the chance of carrying to term is 80-90%, which is great. Now I just feel tortured waiting for it to all happen. I just can't WAIT to know that I'm pregnant with a healthy baby (I know its not 100%, but its a helluva lot better than what I'm working with on my own!)
pomelo / 5228 posts
@Happygal: I'm doing OK. We had a big wind storm and no power for most of the day, so my mind was otherwise occupied today at least So whats your new plan? Are you doing IUI with the injectibles then?

* Happy Halloween? Are you celebrating?
--No, not really. I mean, I didn't dress up or go to any parties but I will have candy ready if any kids come by. We had one girl come by. We usually get one or two ToT each Halloween. Our apartment complex is fairly large and we are in an apt that's the farthest from the road. Haha! I can count on one hand how many ToTs we've gotten over the past 5 years we've lived here. 3!
*What has been your best/favorite costume?
Neil Patrick Harris and Fergie and Josh had good costumes.
*Updates?
I'm in my TWW and today is 10 DPO. It's a natural cycle with no meds. I know I was telling myself to wait for AF to be late or to come but I caved and tested this morning. BFN! I know it's early but now I'm just waiting for cycle 17 to start with my 3rd IUI. Then IVF in January.

@FaithFertility: yeah for good numbers! I'm laughing thinking of the man serenading his wife. That is really sweet! Speaking of husband participation....did your doctor offer your husband the chance to push the sperm in?! I heard some doctors do that.
@Mrs.Someone: injectables for now. Hoping it will build up my lining. I'm also going to take progesterone this time b/c my luteal phase was so short last time. IUI is up in the air--I want to go for the gold, my husband is reluctant about it. I'm glad you had something to distract you! We seem to lose our power a lot--was it fun for a little bit, or just a pain?
@Bluestriped Bee: it's hard not to cave when the tests are in your house! I'm going to look about Fergie and Josh--didn't see their costumes.

@Happygal: They do do that, if your SO asks, I could never have him , I'm so nervous and so scared I need the doctor...lol but she has said some do......ME and DH pray and he holds my hand

@FaithFertility: man, yellow wrist bands and guitars? Your RE's office sounds like a music festival, haha!
My DH has never even been in the building for my IUIs (drops off his sample an hour before on his way to work) but I wouldn't want him to push the sample in - I'd be afraid he'd go too fast and make me cramp!
