@Mrs.Someone: My clinic doesn't do a 7DPO progesterone test for some crazy reason so I don't know if the cramping without spotting is an issue but when coupled with the high estrogen I wanted to at least give it a try and my RE didn't disagree.

Sorry AF is being such a B! I am considering seeing a Naturopath if this cycle isn't successful because based on my research ART is only going to circumvent the endo whereas Naturopaths work to balance the hormones etc. I don't have any advise for you other than do what you feel is best. If you go to the RE a lot of the tests they will run the naturopath can use in their diagnosis and treatment as well.

@mrswin: That's odd that an RE wouldn't want to check progesterone! But if they agreed to try and treat it, then I guess its not a problem. I'm interested to see how it works for you, since I think I have high estrogen too. My naturopath wants me to take progesterone after O, but my acupuncturist wanted me to wait until after a BFP. Curious if that made a difference, even though my LP is a good length.

And I always think trying to find the cause of a problem instead of treating the symptoms is a good idea, which is why I like the idea of naturopaths. Plus, I'm a pill-o-phobe, and don't like taking drugs Hopefully it can help your endo!

@mrswin: I'm sorry things didn't seem to line up this cycle. But you did get an IUI in and BD can actually work just as well! That's good that you insisted on the progesterone and your doctor finally gave it to you. Hopefully you won't get that cramping this cycle!

@Mrs.Someone: Is it an option to see both an RE and Naturopath at the same time? I'm wondering if this has to be an either/or decision.

  4. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@spaniellove: Not sure, but I'd be afraid of treatments interfering with eachother. Either way though, I'm not ready to start on traditional drugs. I told DH that we would reevaluate in 3 months and consider it then.

@spaniellove: Thanks I have accepted the way the cycle has turned out and feel ok about it.

@Mrs.Someone: Might be worth asking you naturopath if there is an RE locally that they work with regularly. I know the clinic I am at they work together if the patient is doing both. Just an option!

Hi Ladies. I wish I had good news for you, but I don't. IVF #1 failed, and I couldn't be sadder. Sorry for not updating yesterday. I just couldn't bring myself to post the reality.

This is such a tough time for you right now and you have every right to feel the things you're feeling. It might seem like you've tried everything so how could there ever be hope again? One day you'll be able to see the future again, but right now all that matters is you. Sending huge huge hugs.

I just had a "what's next" appointment with my ND. She ordered a pelvic ultrasound, HSG, SA, and is re-doing the cd3 and 7dpo labwork. She also suggested consulting with an RE to see what they would suggest (even if I didn't want to do anything yet). So it will take a month or so for all the stuff to get done, then (if not pregnant) we'll figure out a treatment plan. At that point I'll decide whether or not to make an appointment with an RE. I like that the ND is very proactive with testing to figure out whats going on.

Time to make my appointment with the dildo cam, yay!

@mrs. someone: I have never heard of it referred to as a "dildo cam" LOL. It sounds like you have a solid plan. I always hate how long all of this stuff takes. I really want to see an RE next month and am now trying to make sure I make the appointment at the right time so I don't have to wait another cycle. Hang in there.

@mrs. someone: That is the best term! It reminds me of how intimidated my husband was when he first saw it.

  21. spaniellove

@Mrs.Someone: Sounds like a good idea to consider seeing the RE just in case...you're not obligated to do anything with them, but at least you can find out what they think and get another opinion.

@Mrs.Someone: exciting! I just did all that testing this past cycle. And I called it a "dildo cam" to DH too and he was dying laughing. He thought I invented the term, haha.

  23. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@Suzimo: @ineebee: @Shutterbug: Thanks ladies! The ND got a laugh out of "dildo cam" too! We agreed that its probably best she didn't use the term with patients though

@spaniellove: I agree, but I'm going to wait until all the tests are in and see what turns up. Of course if its a blocked tube or something, it may not be necessary. How are you feeling today btw?

  24. twodoghouse

    honeydew / 7230 posts

@Mrs.Someone: Good luck with the testing. Sounds like you have a great plan of action. Love the term dildo cam! We call it the "robotic camera penis" in our house!

hey ladies, just wanted to check-in. today is day 11 of stims, and it looks like i'll probably be triggering tonight w/ ER on friday! the only concern that they have is that my E2s dipped a little yesterday, so we're making sure today that they go back up. did anyone else have this happen? my doc said that its not a "terrible" thing, that things are still looking "good" just not "ideal." so, fingers crossed that this all works out

  28. raintreebee

    pear / 1531 posts

@PastaAndPotato: Excited that your ER is on Friday. My E2s didn't dipped but at one point they didn't rise as much as we'd hoped. My doc upped the meds a little, and then the E2s started to rise significantly. What is your E2 compared to # of follicles? I think the E2 can rise a lot in a short amount of time.

Thank you everyone for thinking of me. It's been a rough few days, but I am feeling better. Our doctor called and said we shouldn't think of the cycle being over since we only transferred one, and we still have two beautiful embryos to whom we need to give a chance. So now the plan is to go straight into a FET cycle this month (where they transfer the frozen embryo).

  32. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@PastaAndPotato: That must be so exciting to know that the injections and meds are almost behind you! As @raintreebee asked, are the E2 and follicles still in a reasonable ratio? I think your E2 is supposed to be around 200 for every mature follicle.

@raintreebee: Is your RE making you downreg and then doing the transfer or talking about transferring in a couple weeks? How do you feel about the plan?

@Mrs.Someone: I feel a little better after getting my second beta and knowing the doubling time is good, but am still struggling with the thought patterns I've developed as an infertile. Like putting up a mental wall when it comes to anything related to babies or pregnancy.

  33. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@spaniellove: Glad that the pregnancy seems to be starting off well. Maybe try to exorcize the word "infertile" from your description of yourself? It might help you heal a bit. In C + B terms, see a positive energy field surrounding it

Thats one thing I'm glad I haven't labeled myself as, I try to think of it as a challenge instead of an improbability.

  34. Shutterbug

    grapefruit / 4703 posts

@raintreebee: yay that's great news! I'm glad you don't have to wait, and I'm sure you've heard this a million times in the last few days, but I've heard that FETs are sometimes more successful because you're not packed full of fertility meds.

So as of my last update I thought I was going to be able to actively TTC on my upcoming cycle since my cyst was much smaller. Unfortunately my estrogen levels are too high. I am still waiting on AF after being on BC last cycle. Today is CD 39 and I typically have been having around 26 day cycles for the past year and a half so I am frustrated. Looks like whenever my next cycle starts I will probably have to go back on BC for another cycle. So I am stuck waiting again. I will be thinking of you all but probably not be around HB much. I need to create some distance since I can't even try for quite a few weeks. Take care my friends, I'll be back in a month or so!

@kentuckygirl: (You probably won't read this, but...) Sorry to hear that! Waiting is so difficult! I hope the next TTC cycle is worth the wait!
