Did you go for it anyway ? Were you happily surprised with how it worked out ?
I'm loving focusing on LO 1 and feel like things are so easy now. I'm not ready for the stress of a newborn. But- I think a lot of that anxiety was because of the unknown. I'm hoping it will be much less with a second child because I won't be terrified of every little thing

I'm a big believer that both parents should be on board before adding a baby. I would just hate the thought of the unsure parent feeling resentful towards the other parent once the baby came. I don't think it creates a good dynamic for anyone involved.

For me it depends what you mean by unsure. I knew that I wanted to have a second child but I had had such a hard time with the newborn days with LO#1 (colic, ppd) that I was having trouble feeling "ready". DH was ready from the beginning. A 2 year spacing sounded good in theory so I just had to sort of suck it up and go for it.
DS was born in November and I'm so glad that I didn't let my anxiety get the best of me. My kids are 26 months apart. It certainly hasn't been easy, but it truly is so much better the second time around. I have the confidence of knowing that I've done this before and that everything is a phase.
Of course every situation is different though and there are lots of different levels of readiness, I suppose. Good luck!

My husband was ready when LO was 3 months old. We waited until she was a year to discuss ttc, and we started a couple of months later. I knew I wanted 2, but I wanted to be done EPing for LO 1, wanted 1 summer without being pregnant or pumping, etc.

@MrsF: I think that is how I would define unsure as well. I do want another child. The newborn phase was just really tough for us (and we had a relatively easy baby!) and I am not eager to revisit that time ! I am hopeful that a lot of the stress that made it so difficult will be less since everything won't be so new and scary. When I look back I see how truly short the newborn stage truly is and know we can make it through. I'm also a little worried about having another will change our family dynamic. I guess the bottom line is I am just a major worry wart ! But- I do think I would love another baby. Just worried about timing, I guess

This was our situation and we waited another year. DH wanted to start TTC when LO was 18 months and we started at 2.5 years. DD1 will be 3.5 when her little sister is born this fall. I'm really happy with this spacing (Ummm so far!).

This is our current situation. I'm just going to go for it lol. I'll let you know how it turns out. We are planning to start trying next cycle. dD will be 18 months.
