I am a SAHM during the day and I teach classes 3 nights a week. My DH watches LO or he goes to a babysitter those nights.
Several people asked me if I have help during the day, which I don't. They act totally shocked. Is this unusual? I don't really feel like I need extra help. Sure not everything around the house always gets done but that's not a huge deal to me.
Do you have help if you are a SAHM?

No hired help. My MIL comes up once every couple weeks or so and stays for the afternoon. She will play with my LO while I catch up with cleaning and laundry. I've never felt the need to hire an actual sitter who comes on a regular basis, though.

Ha, no. Sometimes DH watches LO for a morning or two so I can work on freelance projects. My house is a disaster, but that's the way it goes.

My MIL has offered but I'm more comfortable managing on my own. I used to get help two or three times a week back in November and December from a homeschooler from our old church but that was because I was in my third trimester, dealing with a nearly toddler, and trying to buy a house.

@BelugaBean: @FutureMrsMcK: @Honeybee: ditto on the maid. When I don't get a chance to clean before my MIL comes over she likes to comment on my messy house. She has a maid though and doesn't clean hers so I feel like she definitely shouldn't be commenting haha.

When I am a SAHM during school breaks, my mom will come by every few days to be an extra pair of hands, but not every day (or even close). I got myself a lady to clean once every other Thursday, and every now and then (like today) I'll send the dog to daycare, more for his own benefit than mine. I feel like a schmuck, though- you guys are doing it all on your own!

I'd love to have someone come for, say, 3 hours a week so I could run all the errands that are hard to do with a baby-- doctor's visits, grocery shopping, gym, whatever. I would also love to have a biweekly or monthly cleaning lady.
But, neither of those are in the plans right now. We'll see how things go once I'm home with an infant all day.

I don't for the most part, but once a week or so, my parents will come over so that I can go out alone for a couple of hours. Same with my MIL. Luckily they are all retired and live close by so I feel very fortunate for this. And of course they love it too!

I have a cleaning lady that comes every other week. My grandma gifted it to me after lo was born and when she passed away my mom took over paying for it. Cleaning/chemical smells give me migraines so its really hard for me to clean.
My mom is able to come help if I need her, for doctor sots and migraines. She used to come over randomly and pretty much push me out of the house so I could run errands because she wanted to babysit, but now she is a nanny for my niece so she doesn't have time for that.

No. I do have some help when my younger sister is off of school and stays over. She gets to escape my parent's house, and I have a free helper/babysitter. I'm afraid how difficult it will be to stay at home with a toddler and baby by myself.

No. We'll likely get a maid when we have another child. And one set of grandparents is planning to move to town this year, so we'll have tons of extra help then.

We have a housekeeper and I couldn't live without her. I am a horrible SAHM because I don't even cook or clean. I tell my husband that he married me for my amazing personality.

Nope. Not even family in the area to help out. I WAH (only a few hours here and there) and just do it while dude naps

No, but there are some days I wish I just had someone to entertain LO while I clean the house or vice versa.
ETA: what I actually need is someone to sit in the car with a sleeping LO while I run in & out. That would be heavenly.

I don't. I try to tackle a couple of chores each day/do some tidying while LO naps, but as long as I can find time for a shower I consider it a successful day!

DHs parents come Wednesday afternoons and watch LO while I get things done around the house. On Fridays I have a babysitter come for a few hours while I run errands or just go get a coffee.
When LO #2 is born in September I plan on hiring a cleaning person a couple times a month and possibly getting rid of the babysitter if my ILs start coming more often.

My mom comes over once a week to spend time with LO while I catch up on house stuff but that's it! I'd love a housekeeper but it's not in the budget and we manage
