I'm an only and used to only want one. Now that B's here I want to give him a sister!

I'm in theory an only child, a have a half brother who is 9 years older than me. I definitely want LO to have a sibling but I did enjoy being an only child.

My husband is an only (gained step-siblings in high school), and only wants one. He was a very happy only!

I have a brother and have no feelings of wanting/needing to give LO a sibling.

I'm an only and I only want one. Things might be different if it wasn't me having to be the pregnant/giving birth one... but they also might not be. I don't see a reason for having more than one - being an only child is totally cool.

I'm and only and only want one. DH is one of 3 and wants one more.

@evansjamie: that's the situation with my brothers and I. I am 6 and 8 years older. But we are still siblings and think they'd be pissed if I said I was an only in theory or vice versa.

I was an only child and was desperately lonely. I want to give LO at least 1 sibling. I had a traumatic birth experience, a difficult recovery and didn't enjoy the newborn stage one little bit but I am 100% dedicated to going through it again so she doesn't have to be an only child.

I think my experience of being an only was particularly bad though.

My DH comes from a huge family of 11 kids. The siblings are very close and family gatherings are filled with love and laughter! I got along with his side immediately. I didn't like being an only child. I had a lonely, only child experience but matured quickly because of it. However, I made friends easily and still keep in touch with 2 of my childhood BFFs so having good friends really made up for the lack of siblings for me. I would love to have 3 or 4 kids but we had trouble conceiving so we will try for one more next year. If I could turn back time, I would have started seeing a RE earlier instead of waiting.

@Ash: I hated being an only child too. I always wanted a sibling, especially a sister!

@Cherrybee: That's exactly how my husband describes it! His parents never took an interest in playing with him or letting him participate in anything. Makes me sad Because of that he wants 2-3!

I'm an only and want multiple children. I had a great childhood in many ways but I longed for a sibling and always fantasized about having a huge family of my own one day.

I'm an only child and was one and done for a very long time, there's 9 years between my son and daughter. I gained 2 step-daughters along the way, and we just had our last baby.

I loved being an only child, my son did too My husband really wanted our daughter to have a closer sibling he won.

I am 8 and 10 years older than my siblings. My parents were originally set on "one and done". I think life would have been a LOT easier for me if I had stayed an only. But I can't imagine remaining as connected to my family as I still am if they had not come into the picture.

I am firmly in the "2 and through" camp, while DH wants to be "one and done."
