Do you like your backup options?
I do not and I hate it when our regular Dr. isn't available.

If I can't get into his ped then I take him to our family doctor who I love.

@autumnlove: We've seen one of the backups twice (same ped) and I loved her. Not as much as our ped, but if ours left the practice I'd be totally fine switching to her. Ours is out of the office every Monday (and it seems like LO always gets sick on the weekend), so I do get bummed when we can't see our regular one.

yep. we see one of the other peds if ours is on vacation or not in. I don't mind it!

I hate it when we can't see our regular. We love her so much and it's not the same.

Thankfully, the only time we needed an emergency appt our doctor was able to accommodate and fit us in! She did that for me recently too after my car accident. Love that she is able to do that.

There's one or two we're not happy with. But for the most part we're happy with all the pedi.

At our current practice we've only had to see another doctor once--and I liked her. The practice seems pretty great, I think we'd be fine with any of the doctors, but I love ours a lot.

I think we've seen all the pediatricians at the practice and we have yet to be disappointed! We prefer our regular pediatrician but in an emergency the office has been incredibly accommodating and all the doctors are top notch.

We've only had 2 appts so far and have seen 2 different peds and I really liked them both!

The practice is huge and there are at least 10 other doctors there and so far I've liked the other pedis that I have met. I'm just glad to be able to get an appointment within a few hours of when I call.

I've been really pleased with the pediatricians at our HMO. I think we've seen 7 or so. I wish I was so happy with the doctors I see for myself.

It depends on what LO has...
Our ped's office has 3 docs and they all have regular off days. For normal things I really don't mind what doc we're seeing but sometimes I really want him to see his regular doc since he takes a more less-school-medicine-approach if at all sensibel.

Yeah our ped practice is great. D and M actually have different doctors, but all the backups are good too.

Totally fine seeing anyone in the practice. This is why it was important to me to find a practice with multiple doctors.

Here in Canada (at least in my province) you only go to a paediatrician if there is a specific issue and you get referred, so DD goes to the same family dr that I and my DH do.
I haven't run into the issue of him not being available but if that happened I guess we would go to the walk in clinic? Which wouldn't be ideal but would get us by until he became available again!

So far I've liked every pediatrician we've seen in my office! They've all been fantastic and really great with Xander! Though I definitely LOVE our pediatrician the mostest.

We use a university hospital system for our pediatrician, so we have only seen our doctor once. We see residents (and sometimes staff doctors come in at the end of sick visits) and our resident isn't always available. I think we've seen 4-5 different residents so far. We actually didn't see our doctor until his 1 month appointment. And I realized there were other residents I liked a little bit more than her so I scheduled his 2 month with one of them when our doctor wasn't available. I know some people would hate this set up, but we haven't had a bad doctor yet (they all have great bedside manner) and it has been kinda nice to get other views.

Yep! So far we have always seen the same doctor. Saw her yesterday even.

We rarely get to see our regular pediatrician for sick visits because she is so in demand.. I've gotten comfortable with seeing any of the other doctors in the practice, I think we've seen at least 6 others! Some I like a little more than others, but none of them have ever steered us wrong.
