Are you done with updating your information? I changed my name with DMV, SS and my bank accounts. I still need to update my credit cards and passport. My goal is to finish before our 2 year anniversary!

I did everything but my passport. We aren't going anywhere any time soon, And I'd have to go there to get LO a passport anyway if we did go somewhere.

We've been married 3 years now, and it's changed most everywhere. I'm not going to bother changing it on my student loans or one credit card, but it's updated everywhere else.

I still have some secondary credit cards with my maiden name on them, plus my passport probably won't be updated any time soon.

I still have one credit card with my maiden name, 4 years later. But I never use it, so whatever.

I updated everything within a few months too. I wanted to make sure everything was the same so it didn't cause confusion down the road. I was going to hold on my passport until it expired, but then I got paranoid that I would be traveling and lose it and it would cause all sorts of confusion. So, I bit the bullet and changed that too before my next trip out of the country (a year after the wedding).

My teaching certifications still have my maiden name but I'm not spending the money to change them. I just changed my car loan right before we made the last payment!

I did it on the important stuff -- SS (obviously), drivers license, bank and credit cards. I still haven't done my passport (but we seriously never travel and I only got one in 2011 for our honeymoon) or bills/student loans. I got lazy and figure it doesn't matter lol.

Yep! Took care of everything after I changed my name: passports, cc, accounts, etc

haha oh I definitely still have a few things to change over... But I did the important stuff, SS, drivers license, my bank and on my paychecks at work (you would have thought that one was easy, especially when your HUSBAND writes your check lol it took 2 months!)... Other than that I don't think it's that big of a deal, I'll get around to it eventually.

I still need to do my passport...I need a certified copy of our marriage license to do that, and I don't know where to get one!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
I did it all within the first couple months. I did my passport since I had just gotten it for the honeymoon, if you change within a year you get it replaced for free.
My main email is still under my maiden name but that is all. Just to lazy to change and let everyone know, but I know I need to do it.

There are still random things I find at almost or 3 year anniversary. AAA always comes due this time of year, they still used my maiden name. Someday I'll fix that one, but all the important stuff is changed.

I did everything almost immediately. I was moving out of the country two months after the wedding, so did an expedited passport, and changed all my accounts and everything so DH could get to whatever he needed to while I was away. Stressful at the time, but now it's done.

I didn't change until two years after we got married. I did all the major stuff in one day-DMV, passport, SS...but everyonce and a while I come across something I forgot to change!

I still have a lot to do and our 2 year anniversary is in a few days. My passport is in my maiden name, but it's my Canadian passport so I didn't bother updating. My old Cdn bank accounts are in maiden name, my SSN and SIN are in maiden name. My green card is in my married name though, cc's too... I really need to get my crap together!

I did not change my professional license or my stock account. Eventually I will provide both with my marriage license, but then again it's been over two years and the world still turns. Everything else was changed so quickly my family was a bit offended.

I changed everything immediately except my passport. I finally did that over the summer.

@MRS. LEMON-LIME: Haha, my dad was upset because I went to DMV and SS a few weeks after our wedding!

I just changed mine after 3 years of marriage because of LO's arrival. Such a PITA! I still need to change it on a few accounts.
clementine / 930 posts
I haven't changed my passport (we never leave the country) or my student loans. Everything else was changed within a couple months of our wedding. I'll probably never do the student loans and won't do the passport until we're actually planning a trip.
coconut / 8854 posts
I have everything changed now except my passport. I'm not sure when I will need it, so I will just wait till then and change it later down the road.
coconut / 8498 posts
I've done everything but my passport and we've been married 3 years and 3 days
pomegranate / 3809 posts
Nope. It's been about 1.5 years and I just changed my license a few months ago and still have a few credit cards and frequent flyer programs to change.
pineapple / 12802 posts
I did pretty much everything. The only things left are the title to our house and my passport.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
Yep! The only thing I didn't bother to change was magazine subscriptions, but I had everything else done within a few months.

@autumnlove: I think the only one I have left is my Paypal account!

Here's where I have to shamefully admit that I've been carrying around my long-form marriage certificate in my bag for two weeks now and haven't made it to Service Ontario to change my name!
I already missed the cutoff to do it for free so now I feel no rush, haha -- except that it's becoming really hard to sign my name because my cards are still my maiden name but I'm using my husband's last name everywhere else so I have to take a second to think about what name I have to write down!
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
It's been 20 months since we got married and I still have to change my passport. My cell phone is in my old name (I've tried to change it but it is ridiculously difficult), and my car loan is in the old name (which I'm not going to bother with).
pomegranate / 3580 posts
We've been married over a year and I still have two credit cards to switch.
pomegranate / 3160 posts
At 2.5 months after getting married, I think I finally wrapped up everything with the exception of my passport, my gun permit, and my checkbook...
bananas / 9973 posts
Nope. I didn't change everything, like my old credit cards or student loans, etc. It's been 4 1/2 years and I still have things in both names. But I just changed my middle name to my maiden name, so it's never been an issue.
