What would your ideal gestation be?
I would be very cool with pregnancy lasting 40 days instead of 40 weeks.

Yea about a month would do it for me, maybe two months only for the purpose of more time to buy/prep

There is no way I would mentally be prepared in a month. Six months might be nice.

7 months sounds about right. Long enough to mentally prep but short enough not to feel like you are pregnant forever.

I am the type that needs a long time to prepare mentally. Ideally a year, especially if that means baby is a little more developed (but no bigger, please!)

I think too it depends how bad the first trimester is for you. If you are on edge or feel like crap, that really makes the 40 weeks feel long. But if you feel good the first trimester that cuts it down.

@skipra: so like capable of sleeping through the night from birth but still with a squishy skull?

@T.H.O.U.: @MrsKoala: same. I still need the preparation mentally, emotionally, and practically. I think 6-7 months is good. Though I can't complain about nine months. It's a good amount of time!

9 months is fine, but I would prefer having two 3rd trimesters if I could skip the 1st trimester.

9 months is fine or even longer. I would love a longer second trimester and eliminate the first.

If I could skip the miserable first trimester, I'd be happy with almost any length of time! Let's say 6 or 7 months!

One year if most of it is like the second trimester. I don't really like the physical aspects of pregnancy but I could use that much time to mentally prepare myself!

5-6 months. I feel much better in the second trimester than the third so I would rather have the baby before I'm totally over being pregnant.
Although.... I told my husband that I wish I could just lay an egg and skip pregnancy altogether hahaha.
